Condolences to Mitch's friends and family. I have known Mitch for years. I think he was on our local SAR team as a teenager before he became a firefighter. He always remembered my name when we responded to the same calls. I remember offering my condolences to Mitch when his childhood friend, climbing partner, and fellow firefighter Ryan Shreve (sp?) died about 10 years ago. He was on another level as a skier and climber. This a tragic loss for the SLT community.

Harpo, I just saw Mitch's FB page which is flooded with condolences.

I don't really feel at liberty to discuss what happened other then to say it was tragic and seemingly accidental. Not work or climbing related though.

Huge condolences. I climbed with him one day last winter... strong, nice, cute doggies, an all around pleasant guy to be around. One of those good folks I looked forward to running into again. Very sad.

My mom just told me. This is so sad. I climbed a bit with Mitch in the mid-90s and hadn't seen him since probably 1996 or so. He was a really nice guy and great climber then and I have no doubt that those qualities grew over time. I am glad to have known him. Condolences to his family.

I knew Mitch from coming into sports ltd with his boys. He had such a positive vibe and I wish I had a chance to know him better. I'm so sorry for his physical death. I know he will always be with us in spirit. What a beautiful presence he was. Much Love to his family.
