Hello Supertopo-
I am posting to let you know about a very cool event going on right now in Yosemite Valley:

Paradox Sports, in partnership with the National Park Service, is hosting a veteran specific adaptive climbing event to commemorate September 11th, with the goal of multiple teams of vets summitting concurrently on 9/11.

Here is a press release from last month, announcing the event:

The teams now in the Valley include 3 awesome guys attempting the 1st ever all veteran adaptive ascent of El Cap, via the Zodiac route!

There are also groups of vets headed up into Little Yosemite Valley today, some to ascend Half Dome tomorrow via the cables, and others via Snake Dike.

There are even going to be a couple of reporters from NPR joining the Snake Dike team, and reporting with a live feed on NPR tomorrow morning- how cool is that?

For those who may be unfamiliar with Paradox Sports, well known Yosemite climber Tim ONeill was a co-founder in 2007, and he currently serves as the executive director. Timmy is in Yosemite leading this event, and he will lead the Snake Dike team tomorrow. Heidi Wertz, Conrad Anker, and others are also helping Pradox Sports, and will participate and assist the veterans as needed on their ascents.

Mission
Paradox Sports provides inspiration, opportunities and adaptive equipment to the disabled community, empowering their pursuit of a life of excellence through human-powered outdoor sports.

Company Overview
Paradox Sports was created by an eclectic group of individuals with a common desire to integrate the physically disabled into the outdoor community by providing inspiration, opportunities and the adaptive equipment needed to participate human-powered outdoor sports.

We have all been affected by the challenges faced by the disabled community; personally or through family and friends and we have chosen to invest our time in making a difference. Whether we’re climbing, biking, surfing or hiking; the physical challenge in a natural environment brings us together as a tight-knit community with a common vision: the desire to live a life of excellence: to pursue our dreams and reach our goals, to be who we are—right now—and truly thrive.

Paradox Sports was developed to recognize the individual potential and strength that defies the assumption that people with a physical disability can't lead a life of excellence. Paradox Sports provides adaptive equipment and opportunities that will engage the physically disabled as active participants. An individualized mentorship program and a strong volunteer ethic provides an opportunity for everyone to give back to the community.
