DMT got Powder to post up a pic of a beautiful set of gams and you're still talking smoke?

Yesterday got really smokey in the afternoon at Courtright, blocked out the sunset. Today was crystal clear all the way until 4:00 when I left. Hit or miss most places it seems like...

We came through 108 a couple days ago to scout for a ropes section on an upcoming adventure race and it was gnarly. After I took this photo, the smoke swallowed up that view and you couldn't see the trees at all.

Talk about feeling exposed.

PS, don't have a dream about your dog falling to her death from a height and then go scout domes in the smoke. Look at that little brown one. They want to kill me from stress, I tell you.

Have tentative plans for Matterhorn area wed/thurs and plan to make decision based upon conditions when we arrive at TH.
Forecast doesn't look too bad with breeze and some smoke possible.

Thanks for all the smoked up replies. It was very useful and we did manage to find a sunny sky or two this past weekend, though it was a challenge! For future smoke-checkers? Remember, yesterday's smoke report is pretty much useless, today.

And when its bad? The smoke is demoralizing, depressing and down right ddddddddddddddf*#ked up!

When you're not innit?

Yay!

I had no idea how bad it would be, and figured that smoke doesn't effect the rock...but dayum I was wrong.

this thread was ultimately and exceedingly helpful in trying to dodge the smoke as it was a whole new phenomenon for me.

thanks, I've been smoked!
cheers!

this am its about a 9 out of 10 on the smoke gauge. I watched it yesterday as the westerly winds picked up and moved it about 70 miles east. Then as the evening came and the winds died it just began a steady move back west - right into us ,, again..

F'n A, Cotton, she's FINALLY lookin' clear up this way.

Well, she was lookin' that way yesterday, but work days don't count.

Not that this is exactly where you want to hang.

Course, if you did want to hang here in Reno, Dingus, you can pull the van up and camp out front. We can do some big wall climbing downtown. I could be DD for a night out visiting strip clubs and other high fallutin Kneevadder activities.

Thanks Jebus, or is that Thank God?

Hehe.

A night of debauchery in Reno has some appeal, I must admit. I doubt I could get up that big wall downtown though. Do they let people climb it at night?

Stripclubs? Not my cup O tea, mate.

Hmmm, new business idea... Karaoke Stripping... ?????

:D

Heh. Yeah, I'm not into them either. Anymore.

I haven't been up that wall, but I do know there is a bell at the top. I'm not sure the hours on that rig. Can't trust a wall that has hours though. Nawmean?

The crux for me climbing that wall is the climbing season on that plastic pulling Spiderman simulator coincides precisely with the season for the crack jamming and granite pinching round these parts. It's easy to deduce which way the crocodile chomps in that lineup ;).

A little Fords for me tomorrow since the smoker cleared out.
