Not that you asked about Hwy 4 but In Avery, between Murphy's and Arnold, the past 3 days have been smokey every morning until around 11am then it clears. Except yesterday which was smokey all the way until 3pm or 4 pm.

Here's some input...grey is air quality alert, yellow is dense smoke advisory:

http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/sto/

You can choose other areas by clicking on this map:

http://www.weather.gov

A nice feature is that you can click on a particular spot and get a forecast which includes smoke predictions - they're guessing smoke Thursday night through Saturday in Tuolumne for instance (then slight chance of thunderstorms for the next few days).

As of Saturday our place near Conway Summit (between Lee Vining and Bridgeport) was clear in the morning, but would start to smoke up a bit in the late afternoon(assume shifting wind patterns).
The fire at Aurora has really smoked upped the Mono basin, and that seemed like pretty much all day. But nothing like Carson City. We drove into CC last Friday and it was absolutely miserable there.

I live near the eastern foothills in Clovis. It's been clear of smoke to the east, but there was a noticeable smoke plume to the west (which would be south and slightly east of the Rim Fire) this morning, that I had not seen before today.

As late afternoon and evening, Lee Vining was clear; Mammoth was clear. It was hazy in Bishop but it could be from that other fire further south...?!

We then drove through Tioga and Tuolumne at night into the Valley, taking Hwy140 back to the Bay. While up there at the Pass, I could see many stars in the sky. Rolled down the window many times during the drive on Hwy120, I didn't smell smoke, except when passing by Tuolumne Campground. It was strong but I didn't think it was from the Rim... : x

The last image of the day. Viewed from Hwy120 east of Tamarack Flat at 11:18pm on Aug 25, Sunday. Watching multiple fires on different ridge lines from distance, it reminded me of Mordor... I could only wish those who are in the area all the best, hoping everyone is safe and sound.

Tahoe at Noon today Thursday august 29th.

Finally pretty clear for a while. Most mornings though it is ok up high on the rim trail even though the valleys and basin have been awful. It was getting hazy again later in the afternoon. Not thick smoke though.

Seems if the fire flares up big time adding 10k acres or more in a day we get nailed about a day later.

The smoke finally made its way down to Midpines/Mariposa area this morning. Webcams in Yosemite Valley look clear, but for how long?
