It's amazing how many Middle East culture and history experts we have here in the climbing community.

Even more amazing that most of our experts wouldn't recognize Arabic or Persian if they heard it spoken, and have never even been to any of these places.

Fox News is a wonderful teacher.

Nice photo TGT posted showing another example of conservatives screwing up.

why on earth would we EVER support radial islamists anywhere.?

Because who would want to support a tangential Islamist?

Did it ever occur to any of us or any of the "media" for that matter that up to the point of actual bombs flying/invasion/shots fired, etc., this nutso rhetoric can be useful to the diplomatic process? Saber rattling is an age old, and not even unique to humans, technique for avoiding bloodshed. Problem is, we'll never know whether that's what this is or not... Rattlers can't admit it.

If that's what this is, man are we all playing our parts perfectly.

How could we ever get them to hand over their chemical weapons? Certainly not by dropping bombs...

Can't believe the threads I see here...."Syria"..."NSA Survelliance", "Religion and Politics"....in the meanwhile, your country became a big herd of FAT unhealthy, disgusting-looking and disgusting-thinking sheeple, because the industries your don't pay attention to, under the cover of exercising "freedom" (yeah, you love your "freedom"?--which in reality you have NONE of) poisoned your nation, and all your upcoming generations by hooking them on sugar and other "food" garbage, and poisoned their minds as well with pornography and general lewdness pouring from all screens and page covers. Any Arab looks better, healthier than almost any American at this point and is healthier in their heart and mind, I'm sad to state this.
Gross idiocy. You'll follow Soviet Union, why do you worry about Syria and NSA survellance, for christ sake. Worry about what's in your fridge and garbage ads popping off your screens. NSA doesn't need to spy on your nation: the things that most likely would be "uncovered" is hedonistic drivel about how they f*** someone or what they stuffed into their fat pie hole. Muslims terrorists don't need to kill your nation: it's killing itself already, they just need to wait.

CHARLIE ROSE INTERVIEWS SYRIAN PRESIDENT BASHAR al-ASSAD MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 AT 9 P.M. ON PBS

6 PM our time. No brains: learn and listen. In fact tape and then go over 5-7 times and study Assad: listen to each word he says, reaction time to the questions, eye and hand movements, how he sits in the chair, leg movement.

As for Charlie he has his act together always has.

Questions tomorrow.

Obama sees potential ‘breakthrough’ in Russia’s Syria proposal

http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle_east/john-kerry-in-london-campaigns-for-world-to-support-military-strike-against-syria/2013/09/09/e8ad7a72-193d-11e3-80ac-96205cacb45a_story.html

President Obama on Monday called a Russian proposal for Syria to turn over control of its chemical weapons to international monitors in order to avoid a military strike a “potentially positive development,” that could represent a “significant breakthrough,” but he said he remains skeptical the Syrian government would follow through on its obligations based on its recent track record.

“Between the statements that we saw from the Russians — the statement today from the Syrians — this represents a potentially positive development,” Obama said in an interview with NBC News, according to a transcript provided by the network. “We are going to run this to ground. [Secretary of State] John Kerry will be talking to his Russian counterpart. We’re going to make sure that we see how serious these proposals are.”

Hahahaha, Syria giving up its chem weapons without a shot being fired?

You can feel the wingnuts panicking at the prospect - their whole narrative about Obama mishandling this instantly blows up in their faces, and he becomes the the master strategist, getting Putin and Assad to do exactly what he wants.

Amazing.

Meanwhile, the neocon wingnuts who so humiliatingly repented on Iraq, are left to wonder if they should have pushed military intervention in Syria, and at least been able to claim hindsight later if the situation worsens. Now all they get to admit how wrong they were on Syria AND how wrong they were on Iraq - nailing shut the coffin on their foreign policy bona fides as a party. They're finished.

If Obama can pull this off, there's no possible way he (and Kerry, whose idea the chem weapons-surrender was) could have played this better. None.

"How has any of these actions "protected" the civilian population?"

They sure as hell did in Kuwait and Bosnia

Kuwait is now the 5th richest country in the world, directly because of US military intervention

Funny how those who claim that US intervention in the ME always ends badly conveniently forget about Kuwait. It can be done successfully, if done correctly.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Putin propose the handover of weapons, and din't he get Assad to agree. Where's the true media coverage?

So ask yourself.......

If the The point of bombing is to prevent the use of weapons, why didn't Obama propose what Putin has right off the bat? Instead it's we have to bomb you now.

Americans are being made the fool.

F the banker zionist. Go Putin
