I find it rather interesting that the man who ran for President on the promise of being the one to "end wars"

He ended the biggest American war of the past forty years.

One that was costing us thousands of lives.

And the other big war - another one that was already in progress when he took office - is winding down.

Your understanding of basic history is horribly distorted by your single-minded obsession with Obama.

Like I said up-thread, you have serious hate issues.

The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.

That old theme? "Obama voters are all a bunch of deadbeat welfare niggers."

Only in your little bigoted world is that true.

He ended the biggest American war of the past forty years.

Oh bullsh!t.

Starting a war based originally on lies will eventually crumble and the truth will seep out of them.

People woke up and the country simultaneously went broke due to those lies.

The country was forced to back out.

Obama had nothing do with it.

He was just the medium for what naturally took place to avert total disaster.

Keep on skimming the surface and you'll never get it and that's why you keep believing these lying aszholes running you into the ground ......

Kos, the Obama-haters are tapped into a network that does not allow for giving him credit for any positive news. Stock market up? Nah. Economic collapse averted and recovery picking up? Nah. Disastrous Bush wars ending? Nah. Syria potentially turning over chemical weapons without a missile being fired? Nah.

Who is their genius, their political savior? Palin? Romney? Gingrich? Cain? Bachman? Perry? Paul? Gotta choose/name one.

this thread is pathetic. it is not against obama, its not right wing against left. it of course gets reduced to that because when hedge is here as the lowest common denominator it gets reduced to that real quick. the two brain celled LCD. one keeps the organism alive and posting and the other supports obama blindly...

Funny the timing on this "russian proposal" I'm sure American diplomacy had nothing to do with it.

I'm sure it was about to happen weeks ago long before this situation arose.

Or mebbe just mebbe it is happenning because of US pressure...

YA THINK?

No new war yet.. lotsa saber rattling and if lucky this will go through as a solid US victory (really a world victory against chem warfare) without us firing ONE ACTUAL SHOT!

Doesn't get much better than that.

I don't even like Obama .. but mebbe more today than yesterday.

Maybe he's lucky or maybe he and the state department are brilliant.. either way

I really hope this goes through.

Well, Werner is out of his bunker in Area 51 early. Probably posting in between trying to figure out those controlled explosions that brought down the twin towers.

Hawkeye, "not against Obama"? Can you read?

And anyone who supports the president is suddenly blinded by ideology. No. We just don't like the alternatives on the right. Gingrich is better on Crossfire than in the White House.

Ok,, sooo some of you now think this is somehow a USA victory?

No, it was a Russian one seems to me. Obama still hints at strikes, as he takes this plan "with a grain of salt".

The actual reason we arent striking is the fact that he had nearly NO support in the UN or here at home. His pre-meetings with some of the congressmen DIDNT go like he thought. He had spent the last week begging for approvals for his bombs. A day ago he was telling the news he might strike even if he didnt get congressional approval.

The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are marginalized by corporations that buy votes for a living.

Cragman, fixed that for you.

Putin threw the fast curve ball

If BHO continues to push for a strike, look for a nice display table a'la a Bloomberg gun control rant with all the weaponry bearing Benghazi return addresses.

you guys are so cynical. F*#king hell.

I see this as an incredible US Foreign Service coup. Russia has been a total antagonist all along. Now suddenly they're standing beside the US and others when talking to Syria?

Only political knobs will see this as a defeat of any kind for the US/current administration.

and today they yammer on~~

The US secretary of state has said that President Bashar al-Assad has one week to hand over his entire stock of chemical weapons to avoid a military attack. But John Kerry added that he had no expectation that the Syrian leader would comply.

Kerry also said he had no doubt that Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack in east Damascus on 21 August, saying that only three people are responsible for the chemical weapons inside Syria Assad, one of his brothers and a senior general. He said the entire US intelligence community was united in believing Assad was responsible.

Kerry was speaking on Monday alongside the UK foreign secretary, William Hague, who was forced to deny that he had been pushed to the sidelines by the House of Commons decision 10 days ago to reject the use of UK force in Syria.

The US Senate is due to vote this week on whether to approve an attack and Kerry was ambivalent over whether Barack Obama would use his powers to ignore the legislative chamber, if it were to reject an attack.

The US state department stressed that Kerry was making a rhetorical argument about the one-week deadline and unlikelihood of Assad turning over Syria's chemical weapons stockpile. In a statement, the department added: "His point was that this brutal dictator with a history of playing fast and loose with the facts cannot be trusted to turn over chemical weapons, otherwise he would have done so long ago. That's why the world faces this moment."

You wingnuts are so diseased you're probably hoping the diplomacy/rhetoric will fail just to show Obama failed. If you're rooting against Obama and Kerry here you're f*#king traitors.

Now that Russia is in game they bring a really potent set of potential sanctions against Assad. We don't have many teeth left except bombs but Russia does.
