I used to work in a restaurant and my gf was a bartender there. One day i was at her house and just happened to walk into her bedroom and her sheets were a mess, allover the place, so i walked over and looked at the pillow, short black hairs. Funny thing is, i had LONG brown hair. I make an excuse to leave. I went to work that night and my friend Kim, whose boyfriend just happened to work with us at the SAME restaurant comes up to me and said that her boyfriend and my chick are cheating on us. I had a suspicion earlier today i told her, she gives me her phone number and also wants to got out after work for beers and talk about this. I said sure, one thing leads to another, we're back at her place. Wasn't exactly like i got dumped but, was pretty effed up at the same time

Mine was relatively tame. I was driving down the freeway, and get a call from the gf. She said she wasn't ready to commit. Totally out of the blue. I almost wrecked the car.

i was at the dump yesterday.
household trash, you know.

the attendant tells me to pick a stall.
i look over, and say,
i think i'll take the one
next to the one
where the lady with
the huge rack is bent over
throwing sacks from the tub.

i do.
and man, i got a few good
peeks down the gal's shirt.

her son, like 14 or so,
totally saw me,
but he was wondering
of my and my demeanor,
my clothes and hair style,
these things about me
usually leave people befuddled.

anyway, i finish my job,
she finishers hers,
and we go to leave the stalls
at the same time.

im douching my paws
with a spritz of foaming sanitizer,
and she sees me.

so i get out, and with a friendly
smile deliver myself to her window.

her son is still tieing down
the cans so i admit to her,

"i looked down your shirt like
three times. the least i can
do is offer you a shot
of sanitizer,
and no shite i totally monied
the alcohol into her
open hand.

she is very all smiles.

i meet my wife at the pub
and tell her the whole story.

she laughs at mine.
but she aint dumped me yet.

I ended up dating this girl that was my climbing partner. After climbing at the gym one night she told me that she just want to be "just climbing partners", "not lovers anymore" They she asked if our planned Yosemite trip was still on. I sat there wondering just how good of belay I would give her. So, I went with someone else.

I think I got ya all beet. Get home from visiting the mama. Empty house uh oh. I had been with the girl for four years. So she decides to start banging the manager where I wait tables this is where it got super cool. Come home empty house, no dog, and a letter from the landlord asking to sleek with me. So she leaves me, takes my sh#t, takes my best friend toby, gets my manager to fire me, and lets the landlord know about my little shroom grow op. so in about three hours time, heartbroken, broke, fired, and evicted. Best day of my whole ill tell you what!

Had domestic bliss with a live-in, life was amazing. In love every day, always by eachothers side. Best friends.

One day she came to me and said she wanted to move out, she was done. No reason. Come to find out there was a dude with a face tattoo she met at a bar.

Took the Cat with her and the apartment.

Six months later my best friend died right in front of me.

Life has an amazing way of telling you that it just does not give a shit. Not about you, not about your plans - it just goes. Life is Rock and Sinew and Matter and Emotion and a hundred trillion other things that we think we know that don't seem to add up. I spent countless hours wondering why she left, what was wrong with me, what I had done wrong... but in the end, as her relationship with the new guy fell apart, I realized that there was no reason. That just happens sometimes.

When I was a kid I would always look for perspective. Maybe, just maybe, if I zoomed out enough I could grasp what happened.

It turns out, the farther you back up while looking at a problem, inevitably you will see planet Earth. It will be a spec in a starry sky, surrounded by billions of other specs. Some moving fast, some slow, but all blissfully unaware of our existance as galaxies collide, stars explode and worlds are born.

I don't know what to think anymore. Getting back confidence after hearing someone tell you why they left, that can be tricky - especially if you were never confident in the first place. The answer is that this is my world, just as much as it is hers.

I'm just a small spec on a tiny planet, trying to live the best life possible. If I've learned one thing is that everything is fleeting and nothing stays the same.

Live and love. Those two go together. Without chance there is no life, without risk there is no love. If you can find something that makes you happy, and someone to bring along, you just might have figured it out. For the rest of us, there are peaks to climb and hearts to break - how lucky we are to be alive.

One of my GFs and I shared a lot of mutual friends back in the day. She ended up boning some other dude who I didn't know. I called her on it, she denied it with the promise that "they were just friends" and I was in love so I believed her.
She continued to bang this other guy, and tell all our mutual friends that we had broken up. This was relayed to me via the grapevine, and when I called her on this one, she said they were all lying.
I was a moron, albeit a moron in love, so I believed her. Again. For a couple more weeks.
I don't think she ever did actually tell me that we had broken up...... it just sort of stopped.

I got dumped the day after Valentine's Day once. I gave her a ring with two hearts connected by a diamond. She asked for the receipt so she could get it resized, she returned it for cash the next day, and then gave me the boot.

My boyfriend in college was killed in a car accident driving to his hometown....to see a hometown girlfriend I didn't know about. The funeral was awkward.

I'm not trying to be irreverent in his passing, it's just that it was 35+ years ago, loved him dearly but after all that time there is a black humor to it. Stayed in touch with his mother until she passed about 10 years ago. Never did connect up with other girl friend.

Ricky - it's knott just you.

But that being said, there are a few good ones - keep hunting, and don't give up. And build some redundancy into your system.
