Looking for someone who would take some of my gear up the North Fork trail. I have 2 extra spots on my permit for July 28th to August 1st. Will pay $100 for hauling 20 lbs. My beat up knees are crying for help. Email me if you're interested. Thanks, Diane

There have been a number of situations where the FS got involved in these arrangements, which are illegal. Doing something for money is a business, and you have to have a permit to do that on FS land.
However, legal alternatives:
-Use one of the guide services to do this. They have a permit.
-Post on the Whitney Portal Store website, there have often been people willing to do this for gratis.

Call Sierra Mountain Center in Bishop. 760) 873-8526. We/They use porters all the time and have a list they can call for ya.
