We awoke this morning to the smokiest conditions I've seen out here in Mammoth Lakes. I know there are many fires down by SoCal and such, could all of this be from those fires?!

Do we have fires much closer than I thought, or is the south wind bringing all this up from SoCal?

Bishop's a bit smokey as well.I was told we're getting this from a Bass Lake/Oakhurst fire.

Sounds like the smoke is here to stay for awhile based on the latest inciweb reports. Inaccessible terrain and no people or structures in danger, lightning caused, burn baby burn.

Any info, ideas, or guesses on how long this is gonna last!!?? It's really smokey over here, as the west wind is bringing all of the smoke here through mammoth pass. It's pretty crummy for both paragliding and climbing out here. Today at the crag was quite smokey...

I went for a run at Horseshoe Lake and filtered some of the air as a community service for the town..RJ

Bummer, we're going to be up there for a family vaca next week. Doesn't look like this thing is going to somehow magically become extinguished.

Less smoke out here in Mammoth today, but that's probably because of the rain keeping it down. Looks like the fire is growing though....

Interseasonally, the longest range charts show height rises for the west coast along with the continental upper high pushing west again beginning the 2nd week of August for Heatwave Pt III and Monsoon Part II for the high country…..About the 8th of August through the 21st.

It is really bad here in the Manmoth area. I just took the Moto to the top of Mt McGee to see how it looked- really thick smoke.

Lots of smoke coming over from the west, the situation is pretty grim over here.

just got back from there last night. Fire has doubled the acreage since yesterday. It's just south of Mammoth Pool. Oakhurst is smokey as are all the campgrounds. Many are closed, roads too. *cough* lots of tinder out there

this is a bit north but it stormed like a sonbitch yesterday afternoon in Desolation at about 4:30. Lots of rain, thunder and pea sized hail. Looking south was a lot more of the same.
