F10, that's one of those homes with the creek or rivulet diverted from the creek that runs right thru your property?

Always wanted that kind of living. dig it!

Curious, no?

I like what I think you are trying to do there, F10.

TimidTopRope, if you are up Chico way, then you must know McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park

Great swimming though no cliff diving, unless one is crazy.

Following pix are from Wikipedia, not mine, can’t find mine.

Up off 108 past Beardsley Lake, on the middle fork of the Stan, is/was Crystal Pool. You go down the fire road and park. And then walk the PG&E tressle then clamber down to the pool. It has/had (mid-1970s) this natural ‘tunnel’ in the granite, about 30’ or so and about four feet in diameter, you hold your breath and let the current take you through, what a gas.

Climb the scree slopes up to the tressle, then with gloves on, you get into the viaduct and let the water carry you back to your parking spot, every four feet or so are beams, you mark them with ribbons and then grab (hence gloves) the one closest to your car to get out.

Blue Springs in the north Florida frontier panhandle country.

Dingus that looks like gator country, and of course the anacondas and pythons are moving north.

So are the great whites, a couple seen off Cornwall recently, just a matter of time before they reach Ireland.

Am I afraid of sharks and snakes? You bet. Especially if I am in their 'environment'.

Bull sharks are the worse perps. Only shark to be freshwater tolerant that we know of, seen 120 miles up the Mississippi.

Okay, back to swimming and diving. Briones Reservoir and San Leandro Reservoir, EBMUD (East Bay Mud) rangers the big concern (no sharks). Got caught a couple of times, gave false names and addresses, they'd pull out the local phone book, and then "But we just moved there", "Yeah all three of you?"

Worst. Cut-off jeans, Converses and no shirts. Running from an EBMUD copter at Briones, the three of us dived into a nettle filled ravine. OUCH. And still an EBMUD ranger waiting for us at the car park. OUCH.

I remember when I was 10, visiting the farm (now owned by a cousin, but I still have an acre) my mom grew up on in West Virginia, there was a really good swimming pool on Middle Wheeling Creek, which ran through the farm. One day my cousins yelled at me to get out of the water as a "water moccasin" was in the pool, boy I scrambled and they had a good laugh. It was actually a copperhead, which normally are not aquatic, first time I saw one (as of course, they are not in California.) BTW I have never seen a rattler swim, has anybody? I know they can and do. Which is why I never swam in Hetch Hetchy, there are so many buzzworms up there.

Is that a glass bottle in your hand?

Careful, that's illegal.

No rules at Choss Creek soaking holes.

Springcreek water at 58 degrees F. on a 109 F. day.

Add a beer & shade & all is pretty-fine.
