your new request and we look forward to serving your needs now and in
the future.

Sincerely,

AT&T Online

I used the word "damn" because there is no obvious way for me to change my password with the type of account I have. ... as security concern.

So glad I cancelled AT&T. Makes me all warm and fuzzy for my providers.

For a long time my Verizon Wireless password was "M-F-er-1" totally spelled out in all it's profane majesty. When I once had to verify my password over the phone the operator was pretty chill about it.

I'm actually thinking about switching to Verizon as they actually have 4G where I live. The catch is the early termination fee from ATT. I wonder if I spam them with profane emails if they'll kindly cancel me? lol

Cell phone slaves!

Do you realize that dropping a dime... or even a quarter, is far far cheaper?

I think paying $100 bucks a month to work wherever I want in the world is a better compromise than showing up at an office 9 to 5.

Godbless cell phones and our NSA overlords that keep the evildoers in check...

I loved dumping AT&T too. Switched my land line to Sonic.net. Still can't get rid of AT&T junkmail though, addressed to "Neighbor" at my address....

Not where I live. Cell service is fine but data sucks. Like .5Mbps type of sucks. A few days ago I watched a buddy on Verizon pull down 40Mbps. With those speeds I could get rid of my home internet and just tether the phone. I'm all for any cell phone company that has the fastest speeds. Now all I gotta do is figure out how to get rid of ATTs early termination fees. Or suck it up for another year until I'm out of contract. Or hope ATT actually upgrades there towers on the East side. Hmm, where did I put my checkbook. lol

dropping a dime

khanom, you do realize phone calls at a "pay phone" haven't cost a dime (or a quarter) for a long time. If it's a quarter, you're calling 2 blocks away, the rest you're gunna be emptying a credit card a la MCI old skool style.

Could I talk out of school on that topic. Worked for a company that sold out to SW Bell, the Baby Bell that grew up and swallowed its siblings and ultimately its former parent, AT&T. Then the poser took the Momma's name. Put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig.

In their infinite wisdom, they refused to accept termination of my service because I didn't know the password on my account. Excuse me, it had been years since I set it up and never used the password. They kept the service ON and continued sending collection notices. I kept scribbling cancel effective xyz date on it. It took about a year before they figured out I was NEVER going to pay and would NEVER know the damn password.

I bet the Chinese AND the Americans are spying on those phone calls. I'd bet good money on it.

Munge, my point is that we the public got marketed a "convenience" and now accept paying a million times as much as we used to just to have a chat.

Take your monthly cell phone bill and figure out what you are paying per minute. I'm willing to bet that at least half of everyone with a cell phone would be better off either using a payphone (if they existed anymore) or getting a pre-paid phone and paying by the minute.

Just dumped my AT&T cell last week myself. Moved to no-contract TMobile unlimited txt/talk/data for the same thing I was paying for just voice at ATT.

If it sucks, hey - no contract. Seems fine so far.

you mean you can call on cell phones too. I thought it was just a way to show off pictures of food on instagram and tell people they're wrong on facebook.

I dropped Verizon and now use PagePlus, which uses the Verizon network-heh-but is no-contract. My wife uses her phone a lot, so we got month to month for her, but I'm a low use guy, and buy a minutes in chunks. I figure going this way rather than having two numbers on a family plan with Verizon we'll be saving about $800 a year. No joke, that.

Bad Climber.. I just did exactly the same thing. I don't use many minutes so I switched to Page Plus for a no-contract I-phone (which I was forced into for business reasons)

Dumped Verizon and At&T in one shot (cell and land line). Now that I can run credit cards through the phone I also dumped my CC processor who was gouging me.

I'm saving like $1500.00 per year

Oy.. a really close friend of mine has worked for Pack Bell/now At&T for over 30 years. I got a earful for over an hour last night about how totally f*#ked up and corrupt the company is.

Jacking rates for no reason, showing up when people aren't even home and billing them for repairs (employees are instructed to do this), randomly disconnecting service then charging you a bunch of money to get it put back (this happened to us with our internet), hiring people with no experience to mess with electrical in your house, they are ditching the low-income discount for poor people (too bad.. you all pay full price now), and they will no longer install towers for remote-location people to get cell service. (Too bad... you have to invest in satellite now). The list went on.

His advice.. avoid At&T at all costs.

Did he work for ATT after they got bought out by SBC about 8 years ago?

The company seems to have changed quite a bit since then. They were incredibly dishonest before then and I wouldn't have used them if they were the last phone company on earth back then.

Now I happen to like them and find their customer service surprisingly willing to make changes in my favor. I make my living based on being able to get my calls and some of the places I go ATT is the only service. So for me it pays to keep them even if they are a bit expensive compared to secondary level providers.

att/gophone i just changed my sim card from a Alcatel phone which does
not make sense in regards to voicemail and call forwarding. I went back
to a Samsung which makes sense with the previous mentioned.

Upon a chnge of number i immediately started receiving invites to night
clubs. One i know of and it seems very crowded at nights. As a matter
of fact ive never been in there at night. However i just went by there
today after purchasing a new Samsung at Best Buy without activating it
through their activation system, another words i did not use the new
sim card. I had 1 $3.00 DosXX with lime it was the perfect size for
driving away lawfully. I'm not certain why im being notified about the
other club events via text messages noting im too far away from those.

$00.10 per minute to talk, $00.20 for FM truncated DNS/email protocol text
via dial in, $00.25 for DNS/FTP non-truncated FM is still the best buy for
me.

It's doubtful that att wireless is the same entity as att/sbc. att wireless
bought out cingular wireless a LA wireless company years ago. It appears
internally that truncated FM mail protocols for text going through a Chicago dial in may also be att, though non truncated FM FTP messages usually always appear to be cingular servers.
