I used the word "damn" because there is no obvious way for me to change my password with the type of account I have. ... as security concern.
So glad I cancelled AT&T. Makes me all warm and fuzzy for my providers.

For a long time my Verizon Wireless password was "M-F-er-1" totally spelled out in all it's profane majesty. When I once had to verify my password over the phone the operator was pretty chill about it.

I'm actually thinking about switching to Verizon as they actually have 4G where I live. The catch is the early termination fee from ATT. I wonder if I spam them with profane emails if they'll kindly cancel me? lol

I think paying $100 bucks a month to work wherever I want in the world is a better compromise than showing up at an office 9 to 5.
Godbless cell phones and our NSA overlords that keep the evildoers in check...

I loved dumping AT&T too. Switched my land line to Sonic.net. Still can't get rid of AT&T junkmail though, addressed to "Neighbor" at my address....

Not where I live. Cell service is fine but data sucks. Like .5Mbps type of sucks. A few days ago I watched a buddy on Verizon pull down 40Mbps. With those speeds I could get rid of my home internet and just tether the phone. I'm all for any cell phone company that has the fastest speeds. Now all I gotta do is figure out how to get rid of ATTs early termination fees. Or suck it up for another year until I'm out of contract. Or hope ATT actually upgrades there towers on the East side. Hmm, where did I put my checkbook. lol

dropping a dime
khanom, you do realize phone calls at a "pay phone" haven't cost a dime (or a quarter) for a long time. If it's a quarter, you're calling 2 blocks away, the rest you're gunna be emptying a credit card a la MCI old skool style.

Could I talk out of school on that topic. Worked for a company that sold out to SW Bell, the Baby Bell that grew up and swallowed its siblings and ultimately its former parent, AT&T. Then the poser took the Momma's name. Put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig.

In their infinite wisdom, they refused to accept termination of my service because I didn't know the password on my account. Excuse me, it had been years since I set it up and never used the password. They kept the service ON and continued sending collection notices. I kept scribbling cancel effective xyz date on it. It took about a year before they figured out I was NEVER going to pay and would NEVER know the damn password.

Mount Everest now has 4G coverage at 5,200 metres above sea level, thanks to Huawei and China Mobile...

Just dumped my AT&T cell last week myself. Moved to no-contract TMobile unlimited txt/talk/data for the same thing I was paying for just voice at ATT.
If it sucks, hey - no contract. Seems fine so far.

Munge, my point is that we the public got marketed a "convenience" and now accept paying a million times as much as we used to just to have a chat.
you mean you can call on cell phones too. I thought it was just a way to show off pictures of food on instagram and tell people they're wrong on facebook.

I dropped Verizon and now use PagePlus, which uses the Verizon network-heh-but is no-contract. My wife uses her phone a lot, so we got month to month for her, but I'm a low use guy, and buy a minutes in chunks. I figure going this way rather than having two numbers on a family plan with Verizon we'll be saving about $800 a year. No joke, that.

Bad Climber.. I just did exactly the same thing. I don't use many minutes so I switched to Page Plus for a no-contract I-phone (which I was forced into for business reasons)
Dumped Verizon and At&T in one shot (cell and land line). Now that I can run credit cards through the phone I also dumped my CC processor who was gouging me.
I'm saving like $1500.00 per year
