Randall Udall, brother of Brad and Senator Mark Udall, was expected to return June 28 from a solo backpacking trip.

Any climbers up there should be on the lookout.
Aspen daily news reports that there is a request for volunteers to help in the search.
Anyone in the western Wyoming area who wishes to join in the search can call Tip Top Search and Rescue at (307) 367-2849.

Rick, I assume you have cross posted this on other forums. That said backpacker.com and backpackinglight.com would be worth a shot if you have not already done so.
Fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

I used to go climbing with Denis Udall, who was a pretty good climber but not interested in politics like the rest of his family.
As lame as they seem, it's a good idea to have a transponder with you if you're going alone in the backcountry. Hunters have them but they're still rare with hikers.

Hope he is ok, putting out good vibes for Randy. Last time in the Winds, 3 summers ago, we met up with Randy as we were exiting in a snow storm and he was on his way in.

Let's hope for a good conclusion for Randy.
Unfortunately he's in grizzly country, and mountain
lions inhabit the area.
And there's the case of the missing woman jogger, Amy Wroe Bechtel
near the Winds some years back. . .

Damn, his cousin almost pulled the same thing skiing into TPR during a storm when we weren't expecting him. Super lucky Max and Bill spotted him coming up the road and waited to see who he was.
I just left WY this morning. Been itching to get into the Winds, but it'll be a month before I can.
Putting out good vibes he's OK, just injured and waiting for help.
I like the Udall's.

Hate to hear of anything potentially bad happening to a Udall. Any Udall. I also climbed with Dennis. One time his dad picked Dennis up when we got back from the gunks. His dad seemed not pleased, or at the least very preoccupied, and appeared not sure he wanted Dennis wasting time with a dirtbag physicist. If I had been working for Kennedy I would have felt the same.
We all owe so much to the Udalls. It's beyond calculation.

I wholeheartedly agree John.
Of Mo and Patricia's six kids, Randy is the one that I spent the least time around but I sure hope that he is okay. The Winds are pretty friendly mountains and somebody must have seen him along the way so I pray that he is found soon. Independent to the core.
The world would be a very different place if Mo hadn't narrowly lost out to Jimmy Carter and the bandwagon effect. He was a true statesman and a rarity for it.
We joked at the time that should Mo have been elected, it would have been the most difficult assignment that the Secret Service ever had to deal with.

Am praying Randy's okay. He's been a huge influence on me. I had his former position with Amory Lovins at Rocky Mountain Institute for 11 years. When I got the story "Freakers Ball" (thanks for that suggestion David Stevenson) by Jeff Salz I was kinda surprised to see that Randy had been there [Fitzroy area] during that tragedy. I remember Randy later summed it up to me in a 2011 email something like this: "bummer." Hope like crazy you're okay, mate.

From my experience a solo hiker 6 to 7 days overdue is always a terrible sign especially after search teams come up empty handed.
Best wishes for a good out come though .....

somebody was lost for 37 days in jellystone park, crawled out on his own,
if you have water and a tent then you might be alright,

Sad news....the Udall's are quite a family. With the time that has passed it's hard to imagine a good outcome. The Wind's are quite open terrain with quite a few hikers/climbers this time of year. It's highly unlikely that he is lost, he must be incapacitated in some way.

This has been all over our local news here... Udall park (Tucson) named after the family ... Sitting here with Mr. Bee... and I couldn't help the tears that welled up in my eyeballs.
Damn it... we lost another one... damn it.
Peace and love to the Udall family...
