Monday storm may drop an inch of rain on Sacramento
By Matt Weiser

Published: Saturday, Jun. 22, 2013 - 12:00 am | Page 1A

An unusual summer storm arriving Monday could break rainfall records in Sacramento and many other areas of Northern California.

Officials at the National Weather Service said Friday that Sacramento could see an inch of rain or more on Monday. Areas of the northern Sacramento Valley could see 2 inches, and the North Coast could get as much as 4 inches.

The wettest June day on record in downtown Sacramento was June 4, 1993, which saw 0.81 inches of rain, said Johnnie Powell, a forecaster at the National Weather Service.

Hurray for rain in California. We could use it. Though not the way Canmore got theirs. A nice good soaking would be great.

I've got a garden, but it's in the northeast where we get consistent rain.

Would a deluge be problematic for Central Valley produce growers?

Come on EC.. take one for your state. We need the rain. Wash that car.. haha..

To doubly make sure it rains I'm leaving the 2 cords of wood I have spent the last week splitting uncovered.

I'm trying to talk some friends into getting on a wall without a rainfly..

What else can we do to make certain it rains? :-)

John M,
I have no qualms with the rain. I just have to mitigate problems, as I live in a flood zone if my storm drains aren't clear of the sh*tloads of leaves that were leading into and around it.

I was just joking with you ec. I totally understand about storm drains. My sense of humor leans towards the quirks of humans who believe things like washing cars will make it rain. I was kind of hoping others would chip in with the weird stuff people believe. I swear to you though, when I lived in southern california, it would rain sure as shootin if I washed and waxed my car. 100% haha.. Another surefire way to get it to rain was to go camping without a tent. with cotton sleeping bags. heh heh..

Way balmy up here. It was misty and wonderful all day, with windshield wipers on occasional intermittent, in the 60's/70's, but no impediment to spending all day outside; I feel sunburned. It smells fantastic in the super-green forest now. Salmon berries are at their peak. We've got the windows open and the fan is on this evening.

Hope no flash floods happen.

I wish we could get in on it here in SoCal. But all we're getting down here is drizzle. Drizzling hard enough to kill a half-dozen drivers on the L.A. freeways this morning, but I'll still have to irrigate the avocados this week.

Yeah, was planning some Donner action for afternoon, but it'll probably be sprinkling enough to render that possibility a pipe dream. Oh well, it's always sunny in the gym.
