Hi All-

For many of you who posted on bigwalls.net forum, thank you, I appreciate the support on that site.

However, my hoster (1and1) is discontinuing SQL4, and is requiring converting all DBs to SQL5. Problem is, I can't seem to get it to take. I exported the SQL4 DB, but a repeated error occurs when trying to import into a SQL5 database.

I'm not really in a time position to spend too much time on it, so it might be the end of the bigwalls.net forum. If so, please copy any info you might want to keep in the next week or so.

Willing to try any advice on a fix.

Cheers

Well damn that would terribly suck.

I'm sure you are about to get a flood of smart folks helping fix the issues.

I didn't even know about the site. It would be cool to have another place to spray and slander about actual climbing without all the bs ot stuff going on here. Bummer

That totally sucks dead rats. Surely one of the many web-literate people here on ST can help you preserve the site. It has always been one of the best.

Munge can clear this up Deuce.

I am sure of it, if not, there are more than a few guys here that can step up and put this in motion.

BW is the best site out there, though slow at times, is always full of business end of climbing.

Some of the best TR's are in those archives.

Keep it alive John!

spent all day so far and no good. Anyone got expertise in SQL5? Would like to share the export from SQL4 and see if there's a way to clean it up so it can be imported to a SQL5 DB.

Site is at http://www.bigwalls.net/forum2/ for another 14 days.

Ideally I would like to export the Simple Machines forum to a forum that could be hosted on a Windows 2008 server--as I still maintain some windows servers from my old programming business--any ideas on that as a possibility?

John, I have no technical knowledge. Would be willing to give some financial support if it would help. I've downloaded so many stories that have helped keep me sane I can't count.

Of course, sanity is a relative term.

Unacceptable. No way. There is far too much history and life on that site to just shut it down.

People we can figure this out. Duece patience mate. It will live on longer than you and or I just give us a bit of time to figure this out.

John,

Have you captured all of your content to a hard drive or two?

I sure hope so.

im going out to my man cave

and im gonna sit and think about this one.

every major part of my body metaphors a machine of greater
(mechanically advantageous) accomplishment.

my shoulder: a dozer blade.
my forearms: a forklift.
my feet: a sheep's foot roller.
my fist: wrecking ball.
my unit: field tiller (and apparently a seed sower)
my scrotum: seed incubator.

my brain: i've not yet found the appropriate application
for this physiological accessory but i feel that now is the time
and that my invention may just help keep your cause alive.

i've got one other agenda item on my universal list
(re-organizing god's dna) and then i'll save
the bigwall archives.

You need a thread title that is specific to your problem that will attract the many programmers on this site - something like Need Help with Computer Stuff. Then they will show.

Error

`ID_MEMBER` mediumint( 8 ) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`filename` tinytext NOT NULL ,
`size` int( 10 ) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',
`downloads` mediumint( 8 ) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',

What about working with cmac to transfer it to ST. It would certainly improve the climbing content on here and it would keep all your hard work alive. Maybe we could have a climbing only section of ST.
