In 1991 I bought a bunch of carabiners through Campmor mail order.

Don't remember the exact price, but ovals were around five bucks if you bought ten or more.

Today they are $4.99

I don't think the price of most climbing gear has changed much over the past 20+ years.

FACT:Inflation is not rising.

Inflation at the Producer level is below the Fed's target of 2%, currently at 1.10%

Inflation at the Consumer level is below the Fed's target of 2%, currently at 1.7%

Now STFU&GBTW, maybe if you made more money you wouldn't be an insufferable bitch.

Thanks pointing that out Goatboy.

Of course, the Obama haters won't care about data and will blame Obama for the sun going down at night.

If you think things are bad now just wait.

We have been holding down inflation for decades, but China and India now competing for energy resources will blow the lid off.
Mark my words.

Invest in equities, not bonds (or bondo).

It's not really "inflation," but devaluation of the currency due to policies of the Federal Reserve System. As long as the Fed tries to print it's way to prosperity, this trend will continue.

A recent conversation with my "friendly banker," whom I've known for over 25 years: he indicated that banks currently have more money available than they can ever hope to lend but the Dodd-Frank Act prevents them from making loans! It's a sucker bet in any case. All the Central Banks are printing increasingly worthless currency, but led by Japan and the U.S. The idea of "deflation" simply scares the schitt outa' them. Soorer or later, there will be a collapse of the Dollar, the Yen, and all other Fiat Currencies. The lure of the printing press is simply too great for politicians of any ilk to ignore and resist.

There's one slight problem with using the Core Inflation figures - they don't
reflect food or energy prices because using those would be too much like real life.

Sweet, goldbuggery nonsense.

Ron, there's an old saying from Tennesee, well I know they say it in Texas, and probably Tennessee too. "Fool me once"...hold on, that's not it...oh yeah, "the plural of anecdote is not data".

Cipher on that phrase a while, and get back to us when it sinks in.
