Slim was more popular than the Beatles. That's the God's truth.
Boxcar Willie left us in 1999, so this is indeed the end.

In case one needs a nice compilation of his hits...
It's available on 8 track, too!

A thoroughly unique voice which was definitely a bridge to an earlier time.No one could sing a song like Slim.
With Slim Pickens passing years ago I guess there are no more high profile "Slims" around anymore.

Wasn't his voice used as background music in some of the 'Raising Arizona' scenes?

I love Slim Whitman and my dad (Darwin also) did, too.
Lest we not forget that he saved Earth in the best movie ever made: Mars Attacks!

For most of the 1980s, he was consistent fodder for Johnny Carson's monologues on late night NBC-TV, and the butt of Slim Whitman look-alike contests.
"That TV ad is the reason I'm still here," he said. "It buys fuel for the boat."

Three great Slims there. Let's not forget the man with the World's Greatest Moniker:
Seldom Seen Slim.

Well, there are a few more Slims (not all dead), but all gonna die.

I seldom saw Mr. Ferge, before he died, in the Panaments, but the mountain did have it's way of telling men apart.

I've got a 347 record set collection;
Slim Whitman sings every song ever recorded.......
Even my Grandmother dug him.

Hey Tony, now I understand. When we gave you that ride back from South Lake, MJ and I warned you we were listening to Slim, and it didn't faze you a bit!
By the way, earlier this year I got to play Seldom Seen Slim's piano in Ballarat. It was a hoot.

Certainly no disrespect to Slim Whitman here.
A few more:
Two-timing Slim (Bob Dylan)
Fatboy slim (friend of David Byrne)
Slim Shady (Detroit's finest)
Slim and none (old folk hero)
Slim Browning (friend of Bogart)
