Reminds me of a situation at the coffee shop this morning. I am never the type to say anything when someone is out of line or doing something clearly wrong. However this morning for some reason i just could not help but in a nice way speak up.

So the place is a small high end specialty coffee shop in well to do part of town. It is clearly not the kinda place you go to get a quick cup of coffee. So this guy comes in like three people behind me. The one espresso machine is a bit backed up as some other D-bag complained his coffee was not hot enough after he dumped half of it on the floor and then did nothing to clean it up. Anyway back to the guy that came in after me. So now things are getting a bit backed up i have been waiting maybe 5 minutes tops. This guy that walked in behind me starts bitching saying stuff like "how long does it take to make a cup of coffee" and or "how hard is really to make a cup of coffee should i really have to wait this long for a cup of coffee" or "all i want is my cup of coffee is that too much to ask"

So you can clearly see the barista is biting his tongue big time and kinda the nice type doing his best to not flip his lid. Anyway he cracks and just skips everyone's coffee that ordered before him just to shut him up. Now that the dink has his coffee he goes and put cream and sugar in it all the while till putting off the air of the arrogant dick he was. For some reason i just could not help it and i walked up beside him gave him a pat on the back and said "so seems to be working out pretty good for you being more important than everyone else in the world ehy". So now he kida flips again and starts proclaiming his stance aloud for all to hear about how long does a person have to wait for a cup of coffee.

Anyway now the guy is making a huge scene and another barista not the one whom made his coffee asks what the problem is and mouths kinda under his breath but out load that the guy is a ass hole. The customer asks the barista "excuse me what did you just say". And the barista said i called you a ass hole cuz your being a ass hole. the customer goes on to assert more arrogant power and ask the barista his name and inform him his boss will hear about this.

Clearly i should have just kept my mouth shut as i bet that barista looses his job.

I would not have said anything about the dog but been pissed and wish i had the balls. I would not be clever enough in the moment to do as another poster suggested and just call the cops.

the just call the cops is the best suggestion i have seen in this thread. I will remember that myself next time i come across a situation like a loose dog eating a bunch of baby geese.

Nothing wrong with telling people the rules, and holding them accountable, but your girlfriend should have been more diplomatic. Making threats is a risk, and if you're not willing to take responsibility for the consequences of your threat, then you shouldn't make it. Just call the cops. It's there job.

I have been known to run my mouth on occasion, although I never consider it someone else's responsibility to fight my battles. But my MMA ex bf and I used to try to beat the crap outof each other too and not for fun, so I'm not worried about some punk. Now, the DOG would scare me if it got aggressive.

It goes the other way, too.

F*#k that you shouldn't ever be that scared of dog. Worst thing you can do is be scared. Just move quick and be prepared to suffer some broken skin and kick the sh#t out of the stupid dog.

I am the biggest dog lover of them all so don' take me saying that the wrong way. I have two of dogs of my own. One a shelter dog and one from a back yard breeder in Orange County that woulda ended up in a shelter or having a terrible life ghetto fabulous life. Of of them cost me $800 a month minimum due to health problems no bull sh#t. The other is wicked dog aggressive so I can not let her off a leash ever ever ever. These two dogs pretty much own me plain and simple. Great dogs just high maintenance and very expensive!

Just saying being the owner of two powerful dogs and having prior been someone scared sh#t of dogs I can say I am no longer scared of any dog ever. It is all about confidence. I suppose i am willing to get bit believing that the dog will not mall me before I beat its head in with a rock if I need to.

After having enough loose dogs run up on me and my leashed dogs because the dogs are vibing off each other and having to keep my dog from killing the other dog and not getting bit in the process I can say I am no longer scared of any dog ever.

None the less you get to a certain age/place in life and it just makes sense to call the cops and let them deal with it.

Would not have a problem with the beer a bowl or any of the above. However you dog pissing and shitting in a watershed area and yes I would get pissed.

Abusing your girlfriend and i would get pissed. Beating or abusing or being a dick to your kid and i would get pissed.

Smoking pot and drinking no and I do neither and to be honest would rather I did not have to be around it. Being illegal I could see someone not being to stoked but calling the cops not so much...

Pretty much if you rock climb you had best be ok with dope and beers..

None the less you get to a certain age/place in life and it just makes sense to call the cops and let them deal with it.

Does that come before or after the age/place where you kindly inform your fellow citizens of the rules and go about your own business?

1) Cops have way better things to do.

2) A few dogs up those canyons (probably below the municipal intake anyway) is not going to adversely impact the water quality. Do you know how many humans, beavers, and meese sh#t up there?

Call the cops, call the cops - man, what a bunch of wanker tattle-tellers in this crowd.

Either step up and get over yourself or throw down and deal with it like a grownup.

But unless bullets are flying - leave the cops to writing revenue tickets.

What's also not been stated here is that your propensity to fight is inversely proportional to both your IQ and your degree of self-esteem.

That's your opinion and your are entitled to it as others theirs. However if you are breaking the law sorry but looks like it is too bad for you regardless if you agree or not ;)

I just went to a beach with signs that clearly say "DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES."

There were about 30 dogs... 2 of them were on leashes.

My dog flipped sand all over this attractive young lady and her sh#t. I got my dog and apologized. She said, "don't worry about it... let her run... she's loving it!"

I am a dog owner and that sh#t pissed me the f*#k off also big time. No I do not call the cops. I do though get pretty pissed at the dickwad humans that think they are above following rules on public property and deciding for another what they should and should not have to tolerate. Pretty rude and arrogant if you ask me.

Now if the sigh saiz take your dog off leash please then maybe i should leave..

Do people get a concealed weapons permit after these occasions?

If you were at a Florida crag you could have legally shot him.

What he said

Since my IQ exceeds my shoe size by an order of magnitude, I know better than to pretend that I am either responsible for law enforcement or that I am a law enforcement officer.

If a polite word doesn't correct the situation, then either (a) I blow it off if I'm not too bothered or (b) I call law enforcement if I have a real issue with the situation.

Yeah where i am from if you just look at someone the wrong way you will probably face prosecution of some sort. Can only imagine if you pulled a gun on someone, pretty sure you would do some time even if they did threaten you in some way.

I always love when Texans are all "just try and come on my private property or break into my house" and all "maybe in that blue state of yours you might go to jail for defending yourself on your own private property. Sh#t cracks me up. Pretty sure if someone breaks into my house tonight and i shoot them and they die i am doing some time..

Since you asked Travis, I believe that the correct answer is always follow John Prines advice as promulgated on his seminal work, "Dear Abby". Here ya go, no charge, watch and all of your answers to this question and all of these kinds of these questions will be revealed.

Travis had asked:
"I'm sure this has been discussed at nasuem but venting is necessary. Today my gf, bro, and I went to go climbing and saw someone with their dog (yeah yeah I know). My very opinionated gf told these individuals that dogs weren't allowed in the watershed. After no response from these individuals she proceeded to tell them should would notify the 5-0 if they didn't follow the rules. Things immediately escalated and these individuals started screaming and yelling, calling names, etc etc. Being a pacifist I tried not to get involved but the young man got right in my face (I'm 6'3" 205) so he obviously meant business. I backed away and told everyone to calm down and finally everyone left without more escalation. But questions:

What are you supposed to do in these situations?
I think we shouldn't have said anything even if laws are broken
Anyone out there on the taco have something similar happen and have the situation escalate to physical blows?
People are crazy (I know) but man this guy just exploded (and he was the one doing something wrong)
Do people get a concealed weapons permit after these occasions?

Sorry for the long list just pretty upset/adrenaline winding down/didn't wanna get hit in the face for no reason."

Munter hitch, Coz will probably disagree, something about permanentlty twisting the dogs neck, but it will cost you 500 bucks to learn the proper technique.
