I'm gonna say Greece, cuz it looks like the ones the little monasteries are built on.

Ghost, that does look like some good granite, but maybe doesn't have that much in common with El Cap. You need to get out of Washington more.....HA!!!

Reilly you are close but about 1000 miles to the west and the rock on the first photo is pretty good, certainly not choss and the spires have been climbed by a french team and it is a long approach no matter how you look at it. Approach varies between 17-24 days.

Toss the choss and grab a vahine.

Mine is a question, I visited Smith Rocks in 1978 and me and a buddy were bouldering around on this face. I'm sure that someone knows where/what this is (I don't). Sorry for the old crappy slide this was scanned from.

Survival; so close that I have give it to you. Have you been to the Tors? This is near Mt Prindle, same general direction from Fairbanks (NNE), and they are very similar formations as the Tors, but they are maybe 50 miles apart.

Thanks Darwin, but no, in all my 30 years in Alaska, I never made it there. I just saw quite a few photos from a good climbing friend who was stationed in Fairbanks.

LimgCrag wins it. Hermit Spire, seen to the north across Freeman Creek Drainage and the Spectacular Freeman Grove of giant Sequoias by countless Needles climber from the approach trail.

Not anywhere near the Obelisk, you might be thinking of Kettle Dome?
