Happy happy happy birthday BooDawg!!!! Hope you're off on a wonderful adventure today, and I wish you many, many more!!!

THANK YOU for embracing the muppet and me wholeheartedly, and for your generosity of spirit, time, knowledge, patience, hope, wisdom and love...and did I mention patience?! ;D

And, thank you for posting the pictures of the 1969 UCLA Bruin Mountaineers pulling their April Fool's Day joke out at Stoney Point...had you not posted that story, I would still be in the dark (and so would a lot of other people, too).

You are the best of everything I could ever hope to be.

With love,

Thank you all for your teases and your good wishes! Special thanks to Guido for posting this thread, his photos, and especially for the many adventures great and small we’ve shared!

Some commentary on the pix above;

#1: Holding my few weeks old daughter, Briana, who is now staying with me and will turn 19 y.o. this summer.

#2: Wearing my YES old school Line 7 foul weather gear! Good Eye, Trundlebum! Photo was taken BEFORE the night of the BIG WAVE when the PFD and EPIRB were carried away! That tale has yet to be told here, but I have plans for it!

#3: Rest day in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush.

#4: 1968 BB (Before Beard!) Guido and I were roommates at UCLA. The extra hands appearing around the sides of that Gerry Andean Parka are those of our ladies, Mary Bomba and Carol Ottonello, the Yosemite Magistrate’s daughter.

#6: Blitzed out, topping out on After Six!

#8: Just before retreating from an attempted FA on the left side of the GP Apron. All that dust and grime from previous rockfalls convinced us that it was not a good line to pursue! We WERE SCARED! But didn’t intend to scare anyone else! LOL!

The answer to the question about the origin of my nickname, “Boo” can be found in post #18 of this thread:

http://www.supertopo.com/climbers-forum/1079288/Welcome-to-Ken-Boche

That thread has a good selection of pictures of climbs, friends, and me over the years.

Just to give a couple of more recent photos, so no one is under any illusions about how young I might look, here are 2 more from a very recent trip on the Colorado River below Hoover Dam:
