Camp right outside the valley. Sometimes it's a bitch to drive in and out, but it's really not too bad, and you can't get busted.
And I thought it was 14 days not 7 (maybe they changed it?) and it's total for the year, not consecutive.

ontologically speaking this is dicey.
thankfully, they've done all the calculations. it's for our own good,
you know ... in the greater scheme of things. god bless the nps.

Goog'd: nps yosemite camping
7th link is:
There is a 30-night camping limit within Yosemite National Park in a calendar year; however, May 1 - September 15, the camping limit in Yosemite is 14 nights, and only seven of those nights can be in Yosemite Valley or Wawona.

Sadly it is cumulative not just consecutive.
They only keep track of you by how many days a campsight is in your name AFAIK. Stays on walls are not tracked and of course you should be able to find ways to share sites so you spread out the number of days your name is on a site. Does mean moving around a bit. Most years I'd go over a 7day valley limit otherwise.
Pain in the arse. It does detract from what should be a nice simple reasonable climbing trip.

Sounds complicated but doable. Will park rangers hassle you for sleeping in your car?

Oh yeah, you will be hassled. Don't even think about the sleeping in the car route.

Yes sleeping your car is a definite ticket offense.
deleted deleted lol
pm me if you missed it
It's worked fine for me when I had to do it. YRMV
Other folks have different ways of dealing with it. Use your head and you should be fine.
Also the tools like to try to search your car if you are a climber and get pulled over. This may or may not be a big deal for you. Something to think about.
The Yosemite camping and tool situation much more of a hassle than most places.

rule number one:
don't talk about this.
the only rule that is more important should be obvious. leave every place cleaner than you found it.

lol. you may be right if everybody start doing it all the time. doesn't everybody do that anyway? lol. like the Rangers don't already know all about this. but I suppose promoting the idea here might not be the best thing.
I'm not that paranoid but maybe I should delete it and have the OP p.m. me heh. Really think it's that big deal to post that?

Sleep in your car = fine. Super easy to store your food and wander into the brush. Expect the occasionional bear in your face wake up though. They are ninjas!
