I have been driving back and forth to Gardnerville from Sacramento the last couple days for work and I keep staring at the Granite buttress/spire formations that are on the side of the mountains just west of Gardnerville and just a bit south of Kingsbury Grade where it hits foothill rd.

The rock looks fairly clean and approachable (at least it does from the highway).

Does anybody know if there is established climbs up there???

Looks like a cool place to explore.

on your next trip over from Sac, turn down Rt 89 when you get to Tahoe (at Myers) and take a gander at Woodfords Canyon. Not only the scenic route, but probably a faster way to Gvile, and there IS climbing in Woodfords.

edit: and still plenty of room for productive exploring

Ah. Well cool. I'm not up this way too often but in Tahoe a lot. I'll stop staring at it and move on to googling Woodfords porn and go explore there next time I'm working in S. Lake...

Plenty of us have a decent knowledge of the Woodfords Area. Hit us up next time you're in town and I'm sure someone will be available and willing to show you around.

There's also a small crag on the South end of Gardnerville called The Book Of Red. It's only about 40 feet but has some tough Dan-O routes to flail around on...

Holy Crap!

I just drove through Woodfords on my way home...

I've heard of the area... but had no idea it was such a cool, beautiful place.

Looks like a camping trip to the area needs to be in my near future... when work allows...

I will definitely post when I go. I would love to get shown around!
