By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?--Matthew 7:16 (NIV)

By their chapeaux we shall know who they are. Do people know cool from mundane, or beans about climbers?--Mouse 4:21 (STV)

No offense, and I'm sure Jerry's heard it before: You appear like unto picking grapes, man. It's you all over, too. Steck's jealous.

Robbins's all mused up, but getting "better" all the time. That can't be. He's always been too cool for school.

Don just goes on and on. Sure hope he keeps his cool when he gets tooled for the boonie beanie.

We are going to detain you, Don Lauria. And why's your back not wet, senor?

Just the one book, Fresbo--Chris' n00b Testament book, Instructions I is in editing, while Instructions II is not nearly as inspired, or so he claims. He should put on his thinking cap.

Hats off for Layton.

Now you're really bringing back blasts form the past, Mouse. Webster Webfoot was the first (and only) TV show I watched live, back in 1955 or 1956. Also, "Uncle" Jimmy Weldon was the MC at our talent show at Del Mar Elementary School in 1963, when I was in sixth grade.

Al Radka was a fixture at the Sunnyside Country Club. I was not a member there, but whenever I played, you could always tell he was around, because Al and quiet couldn't be used in the same sentence without a negative modifier.

Thanks for the memories.

Did you say chapeaux? Da Brim co-ordinates with the choice of this most modest exponent of haberdashed post-modern expressionism and crazy driving.

Apparently he took lessons from Kor on driving, or they got lessons from the same guy, or some thing like it. Not to change directions, here, I'm just free-associating, pulling stuff out of an admittedly shallow hat, manner of speaking.

Surely thear are more threads on headgear, real near hear.

"You can love each other, cherish and nurture each other or you can kill each other. Incidentally, 'kill' is the word. It's not 'waste.' If I had wanted 'waste,' I would have written 'thou shalt not waste.' You're doing some very funny things with words. You're also turning the sky into mud. I look down, I can't believe the filth. Using the rivers for toilets, poisoning my fishes. You want a miracle? You make a fish from scratch. You can't. You think only God can make a tree? Try coming up with a mackerel. And when the last one's gone, that'll be that. Eighty–six on the fish, goodbye sky, so long world, over and out."

That's funny. I must've subliminally thought this thread up to show off that ball cap.

Tobia is closer than close when he channeled Voight's pilot.

What was really going thru my head was this crap, featuring Millis as Jon Voight, me as Dustin Hoffman. It's a constant battle up in there.

From a movie blog--

This movie was AWFUL!!! I don't understand why this movie was even made, I could see why people would see the movie, because the plot line is about prostitution. Joe Buck (Jon Voight) grew up in Texas, and decides to move to New York, to make a lot of money, selling himself to rich ladies. He carries one suitcase with him and heads to New York confidently. Once in New York, he struts around the city in his cowboy hat, snapped collar shirt, and fringed jacket.
On the street, he met a woman using the line, "Do you know where I could find the Statue of Liberty? Joe meets Cass, who she invites up to her Park Avenue apartment. Joe thinks he's finally made it big. They have sex, and while she gets dressed, she opens her purse, shows Joe she has no money for her taxi fare, to meet her next "date" with sugar-daddy Maury:
Cass: I hate to ask you, but you're such a doll.
Joe: You know, Cass, that's a funny thing you mentioning money. 'Cause I was just about to ask you for some.
Cass: (shocked) You were gonna ask me for money? Huh?
Joe: Hell, why do you think I come all the way up here from Texas for?
Cass: (now indignant and throwing a fit) You were gonna ask me for money? Who the hell do you think you're dealing with? Some old slut on 42nd Street? In case you didn't happen to notice it, ya big Texas longhorn bull, I'm one helluva gorgeous chick.
Joe: Now, Cass, take it easy.
Cass: You heard it. At twenty-eight years old. You think you can come up here, and pull this kind of crap up here! Well, you're out of your mind!
Ignorant of the ways of street hustling, he opens up his wallet and displays all the bills. Taking advantage of him, she reaches for a $20.

By their hats ...

Some hackers, known as “white hats,” disclose the vulnerabilities to the firms responsible for the software or to the public so they can be fixed and are generally regarded as ethical. Others, called “black hats,” use the information to hack networks and steal people’s personal information.

At least one of the people who helped the FBI in the San Bernardino case falls into a third category, often considered ethically murky: researchers who sell flaws — for instance, to governments or to companies that make surveillance tools.

^^^Hey, I recognize Walleye! See the white hat. One of the good guys, no lie!
White hats, however, do not a good guy automatically make.

Ron and Lemmy are two notable exceptions. So are our "cowboys" posting here.

Not as famous as some of the people in this thread, but definitely part of the hat lovers.

This is a waaayyy better hat thread than the other

This thread is Wayyyy better than it might have been, pmac.

And this thread was not instigated in order to compete with halibut hats, but we gladly include them here.

Partaking in college buffoonery, feeling no pain, going to raft the Taylor river in Gunnison, Co., late 70's. This pith helmet had a nicely hand drawn, picture of a Bee and then in nice script under it "Stupid". The perfect party hat for me for a number of years, think I lost it in a move.
