I'm planning to drift through there on June 18th or 19th. Looks like I'll miss the big party.

Spider: By the time you work through, I should be whipped into "climbing-shape" by Donini and friends.

It always depends on June weather, but I am only two hours away.

I have a large stock of challenging 4.2-4.8 routes we can explore.

And then there is Castle Rock... or WAS Castle Rock

http://www.rockandice.com/lates-news/climbing-banned-at-idahos-castle-rocks

If you haven't climbed there, it is good stuff. Local/SLC climbers put in a lot of work with land managers to develop a plan, put in trails, and ensure quality routes. Now everyone but climbers get to use the place. Pity.

It doesn't really say WHY the chose to do this. Laziness? Are mountain bikes allowed? Horses? Seems rather biased.

Nut sure when I'll be able to head down there, but hopefully June 14-17 or the following weekend.

Still want to get a trip to Boulder in too.

Unfortunately, vooshifest is probably a no-go, I'll have just got back from Canada with my Mom.

Just hatched a plan with my roommate, Carol K., climbing guide cover-girl, to be there for four days around the weekend of June 15th. Looking forward to some Idaho granite cragging and maybe meeting some Supertopians.

FYI - It's the BLM property that is closed to climbing, NOT the state park which includes Castle Rock, proper. Or so we've been told.

I will raise a glass of good Italian red wine and toast you all from my apt in Firenze. I'm sorry I'm going to be missing this but being in Italy for a week with my sister is an even bigger treat.

Phyl-

Have some Montepulciano, a great Italian red! I've had several different brands; some merely "good" and others "great!"

P.S. I'm saving all my spare change for a trip to the Dolomites this Fall!
