Where the Hoback and the mighty Snake River meet
Topic Author's Original Post - Apr 19, 2013 - 11:53pm PT
I've been itchin like crazy to get back there and my time to do so is approaching. Weekend of May 18th is soonest. All depends on weather and if the owner here has to go out of town that weekend, not sure yet. (I'm caretakeing a small horse property.)
Anyone care to make some plans?

I'm about 80% better shape than I was last year and feeling strong after housekeeping all winter. Really anxious to try myself out.

Boulder is about twice as far, but I might be able to swing that too in the next couple of months. The owner here knows how bad I have cabin fever and expects me to go road tripping a little. 3 - 4 days is all I can afford to take off, but better than naught. Climbing (I mean prancing) in Eldo would be heaven.

Probably inspired by knot making Sushi Fest.

Sure was sweet. Was there 4 weeks before. Had to go back and get it. So I hitched a one way ride to the City with buddies on the way to OR in Salt Lake. Told them I would hitch back. They thought I was crazy. Yeah. I am.
Went back and got it and a few others but that was a good day getting that one in the bag. Here is the photo of getting dropped off after an awesome weekend and the start of the hitch hiking back to Portland Oregon.

I currently have 0 firm plans for the 2nd half of May. I do know Memorial Day weekend at COR is usually very busy.

I'm willing to go there in May, but not if it is raining, snowing, or with daytime highs below 50 degrees. You just never know what you are going to get then----or in June.

I'm just being a little discouraging to people that have to make a long drive to get there.

Nice, when it's nice.

So let's keep watching the weather...

"Bloody fingers?

If you had lead climbed it 35 years ago in blue RR's, and without a few of the bolts, you know sure as hell why they called it that. You'd have actually have had to yard on those shallow little finger locks while staring at #4 stoppers for pro. Nothing on Breadloaves is actually hard anymore, or scary. It was too close to the road, entirely, to survive.

Risk has been bolted away from the COR. Its been institutionally outlawed by the participants. Like Gulliver, the Liliputians have bound it down with ten thousand tiny anchors."

Yes, that is Bloody Fingers, an no there are not any bolts on it.

It doesn't really say WHY the chose to do this. Laziness? Are mountain bikes allowed? Horses? Seems rather biased.
