^^ including me. I have no idea what the Chechen issue has to do with the US. Maybe just that killing Americans is guaranteed to cause an unbelievable over-reaction.

A 19 year old kid, on foot, eludes 9000 professional cops for 15 hours, and counting. WTF?

Or maybe they are losers with psychotic tendencies. A Merican 19 year old just shot a bunch of kids in an elementary school and no one was looking for a political connection.

They are all dressed up like they are in Delta Force, driving around in armored vehicles and they let a 19 year old driving a stolen SUV drive right away from them?

Hey you ignorant POS. Get you're butt out here, strap up and you go find him. There is one young officer dead and one fighting for his life. Some townie cops and a transit officer put their lives on the line to try and protect their community in which my daughter lives to try and take down two maniacs with automatic weapons, improvised hand grenades and IEDs. That fact supports Wes's contention: what television purports to be news is mere entertainment.

My own, cynical, theory of why attack here is that we're an easier target than Russia.

I have nothing but respect for all those good folks putting their lives on the line looking for this kid. I'm just amazed they haven't found him yet.

Being a Russian Studies major I can say that there are a number of perjoratives
used in colloquial Russian that are applied to most peoples of the Caucasus.
I leave it to your imagination what those terms are and how that reflects
the attitude of many Russians towards their southern neighbors. Analogies
to the English vs Irish or our own relatively recent past would not be out
of place. It is not too difficult to understand how a young Chechen could
be radicalized against the country that has given his family a life they
would never have known back home - after all, we are still infidels.

I've been thinking this, too. He is either damned lucky or pretty clever.

Me, too. Most are regular, ordinary people doing an extra ordinary job under a lot of stress. The individual cops and agents deserve credit and respect.

One guy, a needle in a hay stack,, ESPECIALLY if someone else is hiding him.

True. I would guess there are hundreds--and probably thousands--of law enforcement personal of various stripes involved in this, plus the money and the computer processing, etc, etc. Given all that effort and resource put to one 19 year old kid ... we know they will find him, but it is pretty remarkable he has eluded them thus far. I wonder what the actual cost will be when it is finally over, and if we will ever know?

Hey Tami I posted that earlier for Lila and Brendon as they are or have loved ones in the area. But the feed does occasionally give private information of id checks and such.. Also it's easily a target of stupid comments by folks not used to working with teams on radio.

Had mixed feelings making it more easily available.

Not to me, really. I am not an alarmist in this regard, but the amount of resource brought to bear so quickly is a bit jarring. He may elude capture for a short time, but in the end, I think odds are low he will escape. They also shut down a city and required people to stay in their homes. That may have been thought to be the best thing to do to protect citizens and to increase the chances for capture, but I don't feel particularly comfortable that government authorities can do that so easily and so unilaterally.

Perhaps it is time to slow down on the push for an immigration bill. Old Harry and crew should take a good look at the process whereby we allow legal immigration to those we deem in need of political asylum.I presume that is why we have so many people from war torn regions like Chechnya ,etc. Some countries only allow immigrants that have expertise and commitment to assimilate into and advance their culture. The bill should be much more wide ranging and protective of U.S. citizens,

I'm from New England, so very frugal. We think about these things. It has to be done, but with all the personnel working around the clock, including many who aren't visible in labs, back offices and overseas, its got to be very expensive. And, in an event like this, no one is saying let's cut costs. In the end, the money has to come from somewhere, and you can probably guess where who's pocket that will be.

suspect possibly in a boat in a backyard.. police maneuvering personel as best they can regarding lines of fire.. bit of a mess not too bad normal stuff .. also trying to remove residents while making sure have eyes on boat. Strict orders not to fire weapons.
---

Planning to pull cover off boat with eyes on from a nearby third floor.

Quite possible nothing will be there.. or ..who knows

Movement in boat.. someone is in it for sure

If he's as smart as they say he is, he won't corner himself in a boat.
