Thanks Mark! Thanks Matt! I am doing it and it ain't that hard. Some days harder than others. With the goal in mind and having this as a life style change makes it easier.

And being able to send and not struggle is AWESOME! I can't wait to shed another 20 pounds.

2 pounds a week is good progress and I am willing to be patient.

Mine has been in the 2 to 3 pounds a week range. And I am working out and getting stronger too. So yes I would say mine has been healthy weight lose.
Feel awesome. Climbing is so much easier. I never quit climbing. I was weight training. Get heavy and you don't have to climb with a weight belt to get strong. Can't wait to get to the Valley. I am only a 1/3 of the way through my workout program.

Keep up the work plaidman!

No one should lose more than 2-3 #'s a week! If following a weight loss plan at this loss rate the "new you" will likely be more permanent (no yo-yo) and a much healthier you. Higher rates, your body is consuming muscle mass along with fat and that is not healthy.

And don't be disappointed if you, don't achieve the 155 level your trainer spoke of. As the good captain said, "muscle weighs more than fat".

I have never had a weight problem, although I maxed out at 220 (6'2") when taking some medications about 10 years back and had lost my motivation for working out and running.

I run 30-40 miles a week, workout with free-weights and body weight exercises now and hang around the 184 weight range; not sure of body fat percentage. 27 years ago I weighed just about the same; but had a body fat percentage of 5.6%. I was doing triathlons then.

At 56 it would be hard to get down to that low of a body fat percentage; due to the aging process. Not impossible; but it would be difficult.

I have to accept the increase in body fat with the same attitude that I can't run a 35 minute 10K (5:37 pace) anymore.

I don't eat junk food; but I eat a lot of frozen food and canned food; the majority of which is vegetables.

However I can't pass by the Reese's Cups without eating at least 6. That is a genetic problem. (When my mom passed away my brother put a package of Reese's Cups in her pocket before we closed the lid.)

Thx Tobia! It is work. But the results I've got so far are awesome.

I used to love Reses Peanut Butter Cups. I could kill one of those family sized bags of em.No More of that stupidity. I've got goals.

Fabulous - hope you make your goal of being half the man you used to be for years to come.

I manage to keep my weight with a few pounds of where I want it to be even as I join the AARP generation. I have to work at maintaining strength/muscle. Loss is speed and grace seems to be the first casualties of the aging process. Fend them off as long as possible by moving and playing. I watch my husband struggle to enjoy what used to be fun for him, but it isn't anymore with so many extra pounds. A permanenet lifestyle change does it, not a diet. Once you resume past habits, you will return to the former unhealthy trajectory.

Waiting for the trip report WITH PHOTOS.

I lost six pounds last Friday. Drank a gallon plus of water and never pissed.

Kind of scary, really.

Seamstress it is the lifestyle I have chosen. To be not a fat bastard. I was explaining to my son that I am making choices everyday and they do not include ice cream, candy, McDonald's, and crappy food. He asked don't you treat yourself. Yes I told him. I treat myself by having my health and to be able to climb. That is my treat. There is no treat in empty sugar calories for me anymore.

No that i was ever heavy but for me i was not in shape.

April through May down from 155 to 145

Now a good deal June and still heading south. Should be just over 140 by months end.

137 is the goal. Should be flying at that weight..

Secret to success. 100% vegan and little by slow week by week cutting my portions. Eating vegan makes it real easy to eat well unless you are a potato ship junk food vegetarian or vegan.

No packaged foot other than rice, nuts, nut butters stuff like chia and hemp seeds and various oils. Not even any packaged tofu.

Eating this way accomplishes two things for me. First i like big portions. For the most part you can eat as big a portion of vegetables you want and not get fat. Second after a while eating is not so reward driven as you don't look forward to it the same way. You begin to see eating and food as just a form of function rather than a treat or something that you look forward to.

After a while like this it just feels so good to feel so healthy you naturally dive deeper and deeper into eating cleaner and cleaner.

Breakfast was a green smoothie, Kale, spinach, almond milk, chia seeds, hemp seeds, coconut oil, peanut butter, banana. And it tastes great and feels even better!!
