Long before there is climbing access, there is ski access to consider.

Mid-50s and low 60s next week in the Meadows.

So I suppose my guess of April 25 is out, but it's fer sure gonna be before Memorial Day.

Just skied False White this morning. Good corn, a bit of wind hammered stuff up high but easy to spot and avoid. It is sure looking dry up there!

I did a trans-Sierra ski over the tioga road this week. From tioga pass to may lake rd I only walked a total of about 1 mile of dry pavement, but the snow is going fast. I'll have photos soon!

The Sierra Wave is reporting that "Word came out Friday that the pass is now “anticipated” to open May 11th." Whoa Nellie will open April 26th. Not sure of the status of Sonora Pass, but it almost always opens before Tioga.

Uh oh, I better start biking more or I'll never make it alive.

I have this idea that when it opens just for bikes I'll make a 2-3 day trip of it.

Edit: Hey, can someone remind me of where the bike opening is announced again?

Last update: April 19, 2013

Glacier Point Road: Plowing begins April 22.

Tioga Road: Plowing begins April 29.

Bicycles may be allowed on one or both roads, depending on road conditions, Fridays through Sundays after plowing begins. The decision to open either or both roads to bicycles will be made on each Friday and will be posted here.

Once open I think I ought to take a trip to Bishop and make a stop at MoMart for a decent meal.

Life will be good again someday soon.
