Glacier Point Road: Plowing begins April 22.
Tioga Road: Plowing begins April 29.
Bicycles may be allowed on one or both roads, depending on road conditions, Fridays through Sundays after plowing begins. The decision to open either or both roads to bicycles will be made on each Friday and will be posted here.

Once open I think I ought to take a trip to Bishop and make a stop at MoMart for a decent meal.

So I did the Tioga Road Trans-Sierra last week. Took me 2 days from the gate at the bottom of the pass to the Mirror Lake bus stop. I had a great time, and I couldn't ask for better snow!
Of the about 20 miles of road I skied, I only had to walk about a mile total, due to lack of snow. I had to ski/walk across short sections of pavement a few times. I skied down the Snow Creek trail for maybe 2 miles or so, then had to put the skis away and hike the rest of the way. Walking down the Snow Creek trail did a number on my knees!

I went back up the pass today (much better driving up the open road!) and skied Gaylor peak, snow was great, but my knees need a break!

Nice pics guy...I did that route on my sprint sticks many moons ago...
skied under a full moon then bivied in a tree well then made it to the valley the next day...hitched a ride back with chuckles and cosmos ...RJ

Snow load above Olmstead was pretty much nothing, no slide danger, although just east of Olmstead there was some snow in the trees, but I wouldn't say there is avy danger to the road there.

The day after THIS, some of us went and skied this:
Several pushed on to endure sketchy refreeze for the power station shot. Others took on a surprisingly bony-looking Ellery. I decided to cruise some creamy turns back to the car and catch a little me time with the hubcap while I waited to deal with the car shuttling shenanigans.
A glorious day spent along a glorious bit of road.

I remember heading up there soon after May 7th last year . I hiked out to Waterwheel Falls , the trail was a soggy mess, but it was spectacular to see the falls so early in the season... no people.

Just got a notice that the Park has officially stated it plans to open 120 by May 11th. Maybe old news but welcome I'm sure.
