QITNL I'll likely be around Stately Pleasure Dome and Daff Dome this weekend for opening season reasons (West Country has been my first route of the season for 8 years now, West Crack as soon as possible to avoid the mid-season crowds. Blown Away instead if it's not too windy but it's supposed to be breezy this weekend). Probably Little Sheba, Galen's Crack (can't wait!!) and the first pitch of Hoodwink for good measure.

Holler if you see me...always nice to see another ST brethren up there in person. I look the same as my pic on my posts.

Poked my head in here to ask about snow on Clouds Rest, and I see that T H's picture has already answered it for me. Thanks!

Sorry to hear the hard time some folks have had around here the last few days. Thanks for the shots, everyone. I changed my plans and Saturday I headed up to Parker Pass, a couple passes south of Tioga. Real neat area, first time I ever explored it. Nice with all the snow, had it all to myself. I went up Koip Peak and came out via Spillway & Bingaman Lakes.

Qintl, nice. Been a long time since I was up there... So those in the know... Any buzz on the Tuolumne cg opening date?

I'm not "in the know" but I can give you my best guess. Last year the Tioga Road opened the same date; the campground opened June 8. However after driving past it the last couple of weekends, I didn't see much progress; nor had they started assembling the store or the other facilities yet. So this year it could be another week or two. We'll see.

Also regarding openings:
The Reds Meadow Road will open on Saturday May 25 at 7:30 a.m. The mandatory shuttle bus will be running for Memorial Day weekend. Only exception vehicles will be allowed to drive into the Reds Meadow Valley.

After Memorial Day Weekend, the mandatory shuttle bus will not resume operation until June 22. From May 28 through June 21, the public may access the valley with their personal vehicles.

If anyone passes by Dozier Dome in the next couple weeks I'd love to hear the conditions of the face down by Errett Out and Bit by Bit. I'm hoping there won't be too much snowmelt for me to climb it when I'm up there next month.

Nothing to do with Tioga Pass, but I drove through it over the weekend to get to Mt Ritter and said howdy to Lynne at TPR on my way back.

Here's what that area is looking like:

QITNL, once again you make my day. I'm stuck down here wanting to be up there. It's no substitute by any means, but it helps just a little to see the photos. Thanks!

Would guess the campsite will open on 6/21 based on last years road opening to campsite opening gap. I guess there's a chance of it being 6/14 but someone said the store isn't even up yet.

According to this the store and grill are open. There is another thread that says the visitor center is also open. I can't find that information on the government's site. Its pretty hard to wade through, and I have looked extensively.

I drove past Sunday. The store and grill and visitor center are definitely open. The campground still looks desolate, maybe there's work going on behind the gate, I didn't venture in. No one has reported any problems, power and phone are on, everything is fairly dry. It opened June 8 last year. If it opens any later this year, I guess we could blame sequester or something.

Edit: It turns out all is well in this world, after all. Tuolumne Meadows Campground opens this Friday, June 7 2013. Reservations are now online at everyone's second-favorite website, recreation.gov, for dates between June 7 and July 11. Just got mine!
