Why all the advice for scrips? That's a pretty lazy non answer, if you axe me. I guess if you take enough benzos though, you won't be stressed out about your new problem of being an addict. Till you run out, that is.

No sh!t and I TOTALLY agree!!!...

Really fuking DUMB advice being given here in that department...

Pills, booze, weed, etc... is NOT the answer to COPING...

Knowledge, exercise, REST, good diet, maybe some counseling, along those lines are BETTER, "Answers"...

If you ever thought business travel is fun or perhaps 'for you' consider reading this thread...

While presenting to a room full of people this morning, from an audio enabled podium to managers and vp's of a multi-billion $ company I fell I''l excused myself from room (colleagues were f*#king dumb founded) went to restroom and hurled.

Meeting over. :-(

At least I got a full 10-hours in front of them yesterday and today before fading to black.

Now at airport facing 8 hours of travel time to get back to west coast....

OMFG...... I'm falling the f*#k apart.

Seriously.

f*#k that carreer. ditch it
and then commit to a fast,
shunning all wisdom for forty days;
whilst feasting on dreams of furthering dingus
(and thus furthering dingus' immediate dependents and peers)

it'll all come out, better.
trust me,

Well, if benadryl (what sominex is) works for ya, Ron, all the better. A little sleep doesn't hurt. Now, if you're dosing every night....

I tried the Kava tea somebody rec'd on this thread, actually. Pretty good for getting you relaxed and drowsy. Although, if you are a drinker, it may not be a good idea as you're starting to talk cumulative liver damage.

Locker, We were sitting on the deck of my uncles Galveston beach house. My mother was inside the cabin and she was a devout Baptist. Years before, when we lived in Venezuela, she had threatened to leave my dad because of his drinking. He stopped drinking. So just the fact that my dad was drinking with his brothers was stretching it. If I had been, well, my mother would have made the hurricane that hit galveston in 1900 look like a piddly little storm. She could be fierce.

On another side note. My dad and his brothers were known terrors in Texas. My mother tells the tale about her first date with my dad. My dad took my mother to this dance hall/bar and when they walked in the barman came from behind the bar with a shotgun and pointed it at my dad and told him he wasn't welcome there anymore. Turns out my dad and his brothers had wrecked the place by starting a big fight. My dad and his brothers like to fight, but my dad also liked to dance. He was a jitterbug champion in college. So he convinced the bartender he wasn't there to fight, just to dance and spend money and they let him stay. Probably because my mom was something of a looker. heh heh..

"Well, if benadryl (what sominex is)"...

Close but no cigar!!!...

Benadryl = diphenhydramine

Sominex = Promethazine

But they are both antihistamines...

EDITED:

Sometimes when you get nauseous your Doctor might suggest PHENERGAN...

THAT is what SOMINEX is for us mere mortals...

Basically, PHENERGAN...

In the United States Sominex is marketed by Prestige Brands and has as active ingredient diphenhydramine.[1]

In the UK Actavis UK markets Promethazine hydrochloride under the Sominex brand.[2] Actavis also markets Sominex Herbal as a herbal sleep aid with three active ingredients: Hops, Valerian, and Passion Flower extracts.

Nurple to the durple, Locker my chap! Well, unless you're in the U.K. right now.

"Sominex tablets contain the active ingredient promethazine, which is a type of medicine called a sedating antihistamine.

Promethazine enters the brain in significant quantities and causes drowsiness. It decreases the time taken to fall asleep and increases the depth of sleep. This makes it helpful for the temporary relief of sleeping difficulties, for example if you have difficulty going to sleep or staying asleep because of disturbances to your normal routine."
...

"Benadryl® Allergy contains the histamine-blocker diphenhydramine. ... This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions"...

Jebus...

Each is an Antihistimine...

MAYBE(???) they switch back and forth between the drugs???...

it's nice to go all natural without the substances with the long names when time, space, and the universe allow...Sure, if we lived different lives with different paces, maybe it would all work out.

but sometimes it doesn't, and that's why we keep developing science.

Better living through science eh? Whether external engineering with better equipment, or internal chemical engineering with better drugs...

We use the tools around us, regardless of the forms - 'natural' or 'unnatural', to get what we want, achieve our goals, and maybe...just maybe...find a little patch of bliss every now and again.

Personally, I remember hitting a big day of climbing with only a few sips of cold day old coffee...and it's not something I'd prefer to repeat, no matter how natural it'd be to hit the mountain caffeine free! Though I suspect, if I were a Real Climber, I'd be able to get that pep in my step from mere anticipation....

better living through whatever means necessary...nawmean?

Cheers

LS

A lot of those drugs aren't better than placebo. But the pharmaceutical companies don't pay researchers to publish those results, do they? I'm in medicine and will stick that sh#t in your arm, in your cup, or up your butt... BUT... I don't think truly better living will come in pill form, especially when it comes to the complexities of crafting a life well lived.

But if you need something, you need it. Sometimes waving a talisman shaped like a stethescope and giving somebody something they think will work is just as good.

Melatonin and some good bud.

No need for any engineered pharmaceuticals.

Hang in there, DMT.
