A good friend is parting with his entire guidebook collection -- almost all of it collected before 1990. This is one of the best guidebook collections ever assembled. A perusal of the list he sent to me shows over 500 different guides, including many of the most desirable, rare and nearly unique bits of our climbing history.
Whether you are a rabid collector, a climbing history buff, or just looking for older guides to your local climbing area, there will be something for you.
Either post up here or send me a PM with your wish list. I'll hook you up with him.

No Steve they are not Todd's.
They are the collection of a good friend (and an early Access Fund founder) who was a very avid collector BITD and gathered one of the best collections ever assembled. Just helping him get some of these treasures directly into the hands of other climbers/collectors.

Have received a LOT of emails. I think there will be a lot of very happy people -- just having an opportunity to find a copy of some of these guides is not something that often happens. If you are looking for specific guides, I'll try to answer inquiries.
Remember, almost all the guides pre-date 1990, so there are not too many newer guides.

I soon hope to start listing guides by region, with prices, shipping costs, and PayPal or other payment options.
Lots of people are sending PMs and they will get priority on guides.
The response has been somewhat overwhelming, but it is good to know that these guides will go to good homes.

The AAC has a great library and has had some very high profile donations over the years (and continuing into the future). The many duplicates just get sold off. Donating them is fine if your goal is to support one of these organizations and you need the tax deduction.
BTW: The Access Fund often gets guides donated and sells them off and that is a worthy idea as well.
Ultimately, most of these guides belong with individuals who will appreciate (or even use) them and the goal here is to put them directly into climbers/collectors hands.

After viewing all the titles ..... this is an incredible collection. Hope the books end up in climber's libraries that will appreciate them. I treasure the books that reside on my shelves. The newest being Downward Bound by Warren "Batso" Harding and Beryl "Beasto" Knauth.
Met Beryl at the Nose Reunion in the "Ditch" several years ago. What an awesome woman and what great memories she shared of her and Warren.

I've inherited my father's (Richard Hechtel) guidebook collection and will sell some of them. It includes :
Art Gran's climber's guide to the Shawangunks.
And many others. I can send pictures of specific books if people tell me what they want. Most are of California - sierra, Yosemite, JTree, Pinnacles.
I just don't have room for all of his and my books.

I'm (slowly) selling many of my late father's (Richard Hechtel) guidebooks.
Here's one example. I'll post more titles available by this September. Most of them are to the western states - California, Wyoming, Colorado, and then he laso had a lot of guidebooks to European areas.
