Been a lotta angst and brew-haha (get it? well do ya? HUH???!!!) lately on this board. Lotta wringing of hands and snot shooting from noses. Tits here, tits there, 'goodbye cruel worlds' aplenty, oh the HUMANITY!
I'm guessing when you're paying attention at all its with a continuous mixture of dismay and laughter - what is WITH THESE GEEZERS!?????
:-)
I remember that video you made the one where you paraphrased Abe Lincoln from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure "Be Excellent to one another!"...
In the middle of all the ego-wars, of which I have contributed aplenty, I just want to say:
THANK YOU.
This site rocks. The climbing content is fantastic, the discussions are amazing, the photos are killer and the friends I've met and the friendships that have flourished precisely because this medium allows for easy and friendly contact?
I like it. I like what you got here. I got no complaints.
I'll give this a bump of support as well. I appreciate that Chris keeps this site up and it is a valuable resource. Sure- there's a contingency of jerks around here, but there's a lot of good people to interact with.
It seems like every winter people get cabin fever and get mean and overly dramatic, proclaim they are quitting/whatever for a couple months. This year is no different. As soon as spring breaks and people can escape their winter-compounds... they step away from the computers and chill the f*#k out.

Every now and then this forum actually transcends into REALITY.. Just Yesterday an important battle was won by the USERS here in Woodfords canyon.. Our sacred ground saved from scavengers by this very forum...
Yup, DMT is right on. I must be ghey too. So be it! Ha ha!
I pretty much self-filter the stuff that I find negative and uninteresting. That still leaves me with a plethora of fascinating, interesting, beautiful, touching and engaging stuff to check out. More than I'll ever have time to read. I still have threads saved from five years ago that I want to read more closely!
Yes, Supertopo is an invaluable website. I wrote that in both the emails I recently sent to Chris(since I don't think he does lurk...).
That does not diminish the fact that there has been putrid behavior on this site in the last two weeks or so, and it is not only due to having cabin fever.

Hear! Hear!
Keep the MAGIC alive - step away from the bullwhack!

Look in the mirror, and stop whining already. Thanks!!
Hahaha, you don't fool anyone DMT. I've seen you wring your hands AND snot shooting from your nose aPLENTY!!! Just gotta put a pack on your back and a big stretch of rock and mountains ahead of you...instead of a computer in front of your face. ;)
Personally, when I see some of the stuff that's been on the front page I think...Dayum, I guess I'm not the only one feeling the true color of February. It's Grr time, with the topping of gray frustration.
Somehow it's easier to be...content...when I get to be on good solid rock with my hands and feet deep into some crack and faced on some pretty rock faces.
For me, the cure for February grays (different from cabin fever, which has it's own cure) is, food, smokes, and getting Out There. Usually I try it in that order too, much to the dismay of my fitness level.
Though I'm curious, are the ice climbers feeling the February Grrr Greys?
Cause with the way my mind has been, I've been considering climbing myself to sanity...rock, mudd, ice...something!!!
And when I can't climb, I sit on this site, ooogling the pictures, too afraid to post, lest my insanity leak all over the internets...heh!
So...thank goodness for this site, cause it's a tenuous hold onto my sanity in these gray times.
ST is a Great site.
I get along with ALMOST everyone here.
and have quite a few friends that I've met thru ST.
There are a few tho that I won't associate with anymore.
99 percent of the posters here, are ones I am honored to call friends.
Thanks CMac for providing us with an AWESOME site!
Is there a problem?
I haven't been around for many months and I'm having a total blast on the forum right now!
Nah Roy, it's just the run-of-the-mill cyclic white noise that comes and goes with the tides. Not much of a thang compared to other drama camp performances I've seen here over the last 10 years. makes me wish for the good old LEB days, now that was fun! The hand-wringers will eventually wear themselves out or decamp to their natural habitat over at rockclimbing.com.
With each passing year, I come to realize what an amazing phenomena boldering.com was back in '03 - '06. Unbridled creativity, ruthless and rude and hysterical and brilliant. Like a Supernova, it's lifespan was short and spectacular.
Chris, I think that you have an excellent forum and that most contributors are fine people. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it and if I ever cross the line, which I believe I never have and will not, let me know.
Now, how about hiring me to be your correspondent in Ireland? (I'll email you my CV, ha ha. Actually, why not?)
I work for cheap, real cheap.
A glass of wine will do, I've stopped drinking stouts and beers, I already have too big a belly.
