Sometimes a thread takes on it's own life, typically negative. I've deleted because I don't want my name attached to the petty vitriol that ensues.

Yep, I deleted because Yerian was getting trashed, he's a friend and I don't want something positive to be turned into a negative. It should be our prerogative to take off stuff WE started if it turns into something other than what was intended. I've taken off plenty of stuff because of that reason or because I was asked to. No biggy, it goes onto the back pages anyway and gets forgotten. Prolly shouldn't take this site that seriously anyway....it chit chat.

Ron I remember that Yerian thread. Props for you backing up yer buddy. Totally understandable, in fact, admirable. You're off the list, sorry to put your name next to Harpiegrrls and t*r. My bad. Sucks that a bunch of angry drunks crashed your party. You had some great climbing shots on the thread, sad to see good content go. Too bad a mod couldn't just delete a post or three first.

Is it OK to delete a post on a thread?

it is OK, if you dare risk getting your name added to a list on a thread entitled, "People who delete posts that they post list, updated". So no, the consequence outweighs the reward.

I have deleted some of my COSMetICs photos
due to some people getting upset.
Does that count, Couch?

Oh and I have deleted a few posts during my time here on
ST. Nothing important though.

I think the list is made up of people that delete entire threads...

Could be mistaken...

Haven't really taken the time to read it all...

I think you can delete anything you want, most certainly your own posts. Killing a post of your won is different than killing a thread with 200 others posts on it. People can discuss what they think of folks who kill threads. Dingus doesn't care. Others do.

Dingus, don't know why you want to be listed, but feel free to post the link of your "alleged" deleted threads and I'll oblige you.

Here's a question. On something like the Squamish thread, since individual posters own their material, what's to prevent someone starting a new Squamish thread and everyone unhappy with the deletion, just copying and pasting their contributions to the new thread?

Or maybe when someone deletes a thread, they've given up their right to it and the whole thing can be copied and pasted to a new thread?

Here are the Squamish sites:
