Great work Jim. Jeff deserves the accolades. Jeff and I crossed paths a number of times BITD--below the Widow's Tear when he was looking to add that to his collection pioneering FAs, in the Icefields campground after he and Mike did the FA of the Grand Central Couloir, and again in Alaska at the glacier airdrop for Denali. He loaned Vern and I shovel that was very useful. Can't believe we never roped up together...I'll miss that experience.

I shot all those pics of Jello climbing and skiing. The candy-stripe tights pictures are somewhere in Eldo, the green tights pic is from Zion and the ski pics are up on Torres Peak. The second post of donini's, the one he called out the quintessential Jello shot, is even more quintessential because he was using a pair of prototype plastic crampons. Those things were bending and flexing all over the place and I kept yelling at him to get off the rock and back on to the approach snow. He said, "Mal, my goal is to break these. I'll never break them if I stay on the snow."
Right.

Yes, those photos were from Malcolm.....thanks mucho! Mal and Jeff go way back, we are coming out with a video tribute for Jeff and Mal's vignettes are funny and poignant.

Jeff was a huge influence on me and many of my early adventures climbing! He continues to inspire me! Hung with him a few times when i worked at the ice park and always felt like he was super down to earth.

Alpine climbing in all its complexity, difficulty, and danger dictates, to the wise, that the single most important ingredient in a successful trip is the partner/partners that accompany you.
A better partner than Jeff Lowe is hard to imagine and i have been blessed with great ones.
to note:
Jeff, George Lowe, Michael Kennedy, John Bragg, Jay Wilson, Yvon Chouinard, Jack Tackle, Greg Crouch, Mal Daly, Thom Englebach.
Hundreds of climbing partners, but only a few for the alpine.....does that tell you something?
The best compliment you can give to a climber is that he was a great partner.
Jeff was that to me and to many others.
