Jeff and Connie made it to the Ouray Ice Festival just in time for the presentation of the first annual "Jeff Lowe Award."
Jeff was on the stage for the presentation.
The award is given for outstanding service to the Ouray Ice Park and Festival. Bill and Jeff go back twenty years. Bill was instrumental in the development of both the Park and the Festival.
The Bird was there to celebrate.
A great evening culminated with Hayden Kennedy's phenomenal slide lecture
Mark and Jeff tied in together many times.

A retrospective of Jeff's unparalleled career.

Jeff is the single most important person in bringing ice climbing to where it is today.

Not many climbers make it the cover of Sports Illustrated

Many thanks to my wife Angela for documenting the evening!

Nice Jim, thanks. I always get itchy for ice tools around Ouray time, but have never made it.

Did you take Bridwell? Really neat to see him there too.

One of Jeff's biggest epics might have been the drive down.

Thursday I was driving in with sideways snow and 20' visibility just a ways south on the San Rafael.
Over 150 miles in 4WD at 25mph.
Too bad I couldn't hang, but driving back it was 12 below and my wiper fluid spouts froze and anytime another vehicle came close I had to pull over to clean my windshield.

Glad he made it in time.

Jeff Lowe changed my life. No joke. When I was a 13 year old kid I read about him in my oldest brothers climbing books and mags. He was literally, the one person I wanted to emulate most. Other kids had Micheal Jordan.
