Maybe you should consider a Shinto Wedding like this one I lensed at a huge Temple in Tokyo.
I'd say Japan Alps, Nikko, Kyoto, and Nara. We took trains to the last three.

I'm really happy for you Sewellymon and Mrs. Sewellymon. All my positive thoughts and prayers for a joyful and fun, challenging time for you both. (Challenges are good, they help you learn about each other and grow close.)
I guess if I could wish you both anything it would be this....that you both live life together with love and one day at a time with peace, patience and perseverence, enjoying the heck out of each other.
Much love and best wishes and we be wanting one great TR....Smiles, lynnie

THIS is what we traveled 1/2 way around the world for.
The Kamagoten Ryujin Onsen ryokan (or inn) with above hot springs- is renowned. Built in 1657 for Yorinobu Tokugawa (the feudal lord of Kinokuni) as a site for bathing and relaxing, the Tokugawa rulers ordered the Ryujin family to maintain this isolated resort. The same family still runs it 450+ years (and 12 generations) later.
The Inn is situated in a deep mountain valley next to a roaring river with cherry blossoms dotting the steep hillside. During our visit, a cold soft rain (snow up higher) was the perfect counterpoint to the hot water!
