the Taco has been averaging roughly 811 posts per day for a couple of years, though this year the rate seems to be slightly less...

Don't know the answers to who, what and when, but "why" is because in a series of numbers 2,000,000 comes immediately after 1,999,999 and just before 2,000,001. Why you couldn't have 2,000,001 without 2,000,000 and you know that's going to happen.

the Taco counter increments, on average, about 800 posts a day...

however, the deviation from that can be significant... (on the order of +/- 400 posts per day)
I'm pretty confident that it will happen between midnight (PDT) tonight and midnight tomorrow night... so if you go surfing you're not going to miss it

this is the difference between the counter and the actual number of messages, some 123000 messages are not counted there...

The "Total Messagss Posted" number reflects the number of posts currently in the system, while the Message ID number lists the actual total number of posts since the forum went live.

The 123,000 missing posts include at least 25,000 from Crowley alone, knott to mention the work (spanning more than a decade) of a certain thread and post-deleting troll. Then you have entire threads that were deleted by admin (some with high post counts), such as the original boob thread (RIP).
