So we survived Comet Kahotek and the Mayan Calendar could it be that entropy will occur when the TacoStand turns 2,000,000?

wow, not bad... right now I'd put it on April 23rd... may come a bit earlier if there is a rush to get it...
the taco's been averaging 814.5 posts per day since the beginning of March, which is a bit slow for it...

the Taco has been averaging roughly 811 posts per day for a couple of years, though this year the rate seems to be slightly less...
...I could resurrect my net spider and categorize posts, posters and rates but it doesn't seem like it's worth it... 2,000,000 is just a number after all

No sh*it. Mebbe if you were retired and had nothing better to do you could do the expanded form. Otherwise go find a planet. Actually I don't know your physics specialty. Better yet, just enjoy a beautiful Sunday.
Ferret and his climbing partner are riding up Mines Road to the Junction for lunch. I think that's over in your neck of the woods. Me, I opted for an easy trail ride.

interestingly, the post "counter" probably already is over 2 million, so the very definition of that mark is a question... I don't know what happens to all the posts under a thread whose OP has been deleted, for instance.. in terms of the "counter"

Don't know the answers to who, what and when, but "why" is because in a series of numbers 2,000,000 comes immediately after 1,999,999 and just before 2,000,001. Why you couldn't have 2,000,001 without 2,000,000 and you know that's going to happen.

the Taco counter increments, on average, about 800 posts a day...
however, the deviation from that can be significant... (on the order of +/- 400 posts per day)
I'm pretty confident that it will happen between midnight (PDT) tonight and midnight tomorrow night... so if you go surfing you're not going to miss it

this is the difference between the counter and the actual number of messages, some 123000 messages are not counted there...
The "Total Messagss Posted" number reflects the number of posts currently in the system, while the Message ID number lists the actual total number of posts since the forum went live.
The 123,000 missing posts include at least 25,000 from Crowley alone, knott to mention the work (spanning more than a decade) of a certain thread and post-deleting troll. Then you have entire threads that were deleted by admin (some with high post counts), such as the original boob thread (RIP).

Considering the variables...i.e. good weather heartening people to leave their computers, national events affecting posting activity, new members arriving and established members leaving, etc....

I was hoping to snipe my way to no. 2,000,000, but my computer went on strike. Congratulations to Ed for so close a prediction, and to Prod for excellent timing. And thank you to everyone for making this campfire so delightful.

hey there say, all...
ahhh, i missed the fun, :(
i been having to log off early, as i got lots of
things i been painting, lately, :))
well, i reckon i just painted a picture of what i do with my evening time,
now, :))
but not always, this goes in groups, sometimes i have a lot and
and sometimes i have only two, to work on...
so at learst i still get to read, many times...
just hard to always answer, due to the dial up, as usual...
say, ed, as to this quote:

I'm at work where the actually pay me to do the quantitative stuff...
...I'll be back on the Taco probably tomorrow morning... at least with time to do the analysis... in the mean time, there are plenty of other smart cookies that can figure this out.
i think this is so neat how you (and others) can do this stuff...
fun... thanks for sharing...
happy supertopo to all!
and many more posters to join in here...
god bless...
thank you chris for our supertopo!
:)
edit:
oh my, just saw who it was:
CONGRATS TO PROD!
:)
happy supertopo to you!
(think, i sent a dreamcatcher to the winner, last time, so i will
make a dreamcather for you, too)... :)

I can't resist posting on this thread to tell the truth.
I posted it as I am the only poster on the forum, the rest of you have stolen my identity.
