To Ron, a climber, a man with the heart of gold, and a Supertopian.

My political views a pretty much oposite of Ron's. I am pro gun control, he is against it. So?

I will have a beer with him. And I am buying!

I gotta hand it to the guy. He gets slammed left and right, and stays right in there, usually just as cheerful as ever. Reminds me of Lois, that way.

Cheers to you, Ron.

Ron's awesome, I don't read the political threads but he's got some great climbing stories & when he tells them you can tell he is excited to share & truly grateful for all the time he's had on the rock.

hehe,, id have a beer or maybe a cognac with most anyone here.

Im very appreciative of the time ive been able to spend in this rather ridiculous pursuit of entertainment known as climbing. That being the primary reason i joined this sight. Then i get to communicate with guys i only used to read about, and meet many new folks or BITD-ers i never knew. It is a gas around here - the history contained within this site alone makes it worthy of some hall of fame setting. Im just a tiny speck of it all but ill happily share what i can wherever i can. Even those i butt heads with have that offer. ;^)

ps,, never i thought id see a thread like this ! But thanks, and BACKATCHAS...

One has to admire principled, plainspoken inbdividuals. I haven't followed Ron's threads that closely but he seems pretty genial considering the demonization he's subjected to...an indicator of conviction and humane intentions, in my opinion.

Ron’s from the heart:

My "side effects of Christmas include:

Being loving thoughtful and kind. Learning the excitement that giving is just as good as getting, being mesmerized by colorful lights, learning crafts by making decorations, learning to appreciate, singing songs of folks mythical or real but always with a warmth to fellow man.

i just want world peas..

Ron as an expert:

I do know the EXACT best angle for bullet penetration into the critical parts of the brain and spine though...

Ron fighting for our environment:

I know the district is hurting like all others,, HOWEVER,,ripping out granite from THE most pristine canyon around is fuggn ridiculous.

Ron philosopher:

Walk a mile in the other moccasins

one mans cam is another mans colt.

Ron IS sane:

Wilbeer, i pass with flying colors and BKGRND checks. My Finger prints on file were for LEO status in the USFS via the USDA. 100% squeaky clean record. My Civil defense status used to show up as well. My Civil defense card, technically has NO expiration. In times of " strife" i could more than likely be accepted at the local Natl Guard facility. Thats they way it once was anyhow. I used to use the radio systems underground there during practice missions for the NV CD group. St/Fed, just like the Natl guards are.

Because i own guns and stand firm on that right means im a "nut" by your standards, but according to the state of NV and the FEDS im fine and dandy..A federal fire arms cert isnt given out randomly. I had them in both BLM and USFS.

Ron the Entertainer:

UPDATE from SOE Base camp 2:

Several injuries have happened to some of the porters and sherpas. They seem to be getting to much air in the hoover-round chairs, and several have had bad wrecks. We have ordered governors for the motors and pray they arrive before all our sherpas are out of commission! F8ckin Krakauer finally got released from the commie jail- and hes back tending the YAKS and llamas - and NO one had shoveled the pens since he was arrested. You can imagine the mt everest of poop awaiting him!

We will be issuing summit bid tickets anytime now- as the ropes are strung to camp 24 in da dead zone. We have only to stock the upper camps with lobster, corn and tequilla..

Weve been examining the possibility of getting a bigfoot or two from Canada, as the sled pulling potential seems out of this world.. Un- fortunately NONE have answered flyers dropped by planes in the woods. We made very generous offers and double rations of lobster and corn and such.

If any one has contact info for any bigfeets, please respond here at the official SOE- the OFFICIAL conquest continues thread. This is time critical as the summit must be gained before the regular route zoos show up for the season..We need our own summit for all the FIRSTS to be properly photographed. ( we will have the first ever bikini summit shots - you wont wanna miss !)

And perhaps a yeti will volunteer as an exchange program to expand bigfeets cultures - a noble effort NO DOUBT! The Yetis could go to Canada while the Canadain bigfeets were pulling sleds on Everest. This could go a long ways in improving the relationship between them and us.

We ARE accepting donations for the exchange to transpire- air fares and motels etc etc will be needed while they are in transit. ;-)

Ron’s from some other part of his body:

Every Military Oath i know of includes "enemies both foreign AND domestic"..

Why do you think that is?

Many of you wish for guns to go away completely, and so does just about ANY govt, like in N Korea, for instance. And how did that work out for them?

Why did Obama continue the decimation of the Constitution like he did- worse then even GWB.

ANY of you not shocked and dismayed by that new law should really think on 20 years down the road, and what we let loose.

Ron is the sh#t, a super cool cat. My gf Beth and I had a chance to meet Ron a few weeks ago while on a road trip through California. We made a slight detour to see Rons work and say Hi. Can't say enough good things about the man. Super cool, genuine, and laid back. Hope we can rope up and tackle Lone Pine Peak in the near future. Thanks for the hospitality while we were in town.

That is funny Locker. I also had a chance to meet Dean (who was also a very cool guy)in June Lake and he told me how much you guys looked alike. Guess he thought Ron was you at first when he met up with some STers in Reno and Ron showed up.

we all strive for some fashion of a legacy- if we know it or not. Climbers are that way in large part. Charlie is such a legacy in climbing. One acquires good friends through good deeds and that is truly the mark and measure of a legacy-that will stand to eternity in the hearts and minds of the MANY.

Charlies eyes have been gifted in the vertical world, and that world has been gifted by Charlies presence. SALUTE to you sir.

I have been hesitating to post this. Not knowing if i should or not.

But,,,

For those that dont believe there is a spirit world, this may trip you out a bit.

Iver the years ive become tuned to things, that may seem at first mere coincidence, but after many years and many things, i know now the truth behind these- its an inner feeling,, GUT feeling.

I took a rather random break from mounting a small black bear to check -for absolutely unknown reason,, THIS thread. I looked on page 2, then 3 and 4 then five and six..Couldnt find it.. I refreshed back to the first page, and there it was on top, at the exact same time i had searched for it. When i read Michelle's post, the hair on my neck and arms stood up...

Thank you Michelle for those very kind words. And thank you Charlie for the brush by... Im still taken back here.

Love Ronnie, or hate his politics, you have to admit he is a genuine soul that will be forthright with you. That is a somewhat lost trait in men. Not here on the TacoStand but out there in society. Too many phony people. I meet them all the time at crags. (This weekend some Brit woman was laughing it up with us and having a good time until she realized I had an NRA hat on and said, "Oh!, you're one of those people. Maybe I shouldn't talk to you anymore").

I like Ron, not just because we agree in politics and philosophy, but because he's a genuinely honest soul.

If you can't admire that, you probably suck.

Hey Ron, I still want to learn how to clean game. I make give you a call. Is Silver still around? I missed him but my buddies climbed with him.

Any time Bluey. Ill be happy to tell you how to get the best tasting game youll have. ;-) Two main things are: clean them quickly and COOL the meat!

Ive seen commercial videos of "treating wild game" that were horrendous! Lots of BS in that field!

And I let it go. She inclined to her opinion. What was typical of a f*#king liberal is that she liked me and took my quality climbing advice (she was with a class of Noobs) easily, and she liked me until my buddy pointed out that I was "kind of a redneck". (He could easily be qualified into the "club").

She asked what that meant. We tried to explain that it means, and it is hard to define. So I had to take off my hat and showed her.

Side note-Dingus' name came up yesterday as well. And it wasn't in a good light.

I like ya, Ding. What came up was your constant reference to "never-servedniks", while my buddy does private, classified, work that the military uses daily.

Me, I just deal will pro audio. The mil prolly benefits from that too.

My point? Some of us aren't cut out for service, but we still contribute to the advancement of America and her troops.

I find it rather sad when people on this site judge someone upon the fact that they might disagree with their opinions on ANY given subject.

Taking the time to get to know someone means MEETING them in person. Don't we ALL have friends that we interact with in our lives, whom we do not totally agree with on subjects, yet they remain our good friends?

Writing someone off like so many do here just because of politics, religion, or ANY other subject, is really pathetic....and you're missing out when you do so.

I have met Ron, and I can say unequivically.....he adds richness to this site in every way.

Let's see,
Dumb as a doorknob, racist, sexist, supports the needless killing of wild animals. Any of you geritol eating whiners able to identify what it is you appreciate about Ron, other than he climbed some easy slab in the 80's?
Well, smart is relative ;)

Racist? I haven't seen any of those. He dislikes some cultures and behaviors, that's all.

Needless killing of wild animals??? No evidence whatsoever.

Stinkeye,

One should choose their drinking partners carefully. I've had a few with some true believers and have had a few with the some who laugh robustly.

I prefer people who like to laugh regardless of the political direction the joke was intended to. People who hold strong feelings but don't take themselves seriously in person are MODERATES regardless of how they vote.

True believers are as#@&%es who are smug enough in their opinions to assume some one else deserves death for making the believer feel funny. (so light)

Ron would be the first guy to help a stranger change a tire in the dark by the side of the road, no questions asked about politics first.

Ron Cares about the important stuff..Agree disagree.. if you dig to the core, if you care.. you know where he is coming from.

Yeah he seems to get a kick out of stirring the pot. Perhaps it's not the most constructive impulse.. but It's kinda entertaining whatching folks get so wound up over it. Kind of a guilty pleasure I will admit to.

We need 5 Ron Anderson appreciation threads? I mean, I like the dude, he's good natured and gets the idiots all stirred up so the the site gets more page views (so Cmac can make some bank), but anyone have a climbing picture to break up the monotony?

Hey stinkeye,

This geritol climber likes Ron. Jim Brennan and others said it well. I don't agree with Ron on anything relating to politics, civil government nor sociology. But I like the guy. I've needled him as much as anyone on this site. I'd still lead him up my favorite 5.6 and share a fatty with him on the summit.

I'd likely do the same with you.

So there. I kinda like your knife edge style.

I'll add one more note....

recently, ole gruff redneck Ron Anderson reached out to me privately to ask me if I was doing ok. He sensed a glitch in the matrix and expressed his concern. I assured him all was well.

Hates fags? No I dont. But IF they want to demonstrate their "love" on a city sidewalk while attempting to pee on passers by, then yes i absolutely hate that sort of behavior and it belongs only in the monkey cages at the zoo..

And SP*CS, is a word ive never used here. I have referenced those that come here illegally not to become American. I have referenced those that come here as part of criminal gangs of which im also dead set against.

Now what some of you attempt to extrapolate from that is your problem , not mine.. I do appreciate all the sentiments here though. Even the detractors.

Ron! Come on dude, this is USA. If you are against public nudity and against illegal immigration you are labeled as a racist, sexist, and a BIGOT! Don't tell anyone of those beliefs of yours....this is a happy place and we want as many illegal immigrants and as much public nudity as possible.

We would NEVER...

unless it were from great height and there were lots of suds and fresh water, quart and a half a day.

You need to wait on the wind and REALLY hang it out. Great manly pastime!

And some of the touRONS like it, TOO!

You don't have to be Irish to pee in public.
