Ever since my first trip up the canyon I looked at Maggies peak and little ice flows that form on occasion. Recently I found out there are a few Wi4ish/5.9ish routes on it that some people climb in winter. Anyone from this site climbed any ice/mixed lines on N/NW face of Maggies peak? Would love to hear about it and would love to see a drawn line of your ascent/feedback about the climb or whatever…

I think that's where I went for my first and only (so far) cross country skiing trip. Good enough for noob practice on ski approaches, so all is not lost if you head up there to check it out.

Scott, would be great if you could post/or email which route(s) you climbed, if you liked them and any advice regarding when it might be best. If you/or anyone else could draw a line of ascent of a route you climbed on a photo of a peak, it would be great.

Me too. Don't have climbing pics. Was solo. Nothing magic about finding a line. Just go you'll see them, if they're formed up enough. (Which I highly doubt currently)

I did the ice route about 10 years ago 3 or 4 ice pitches and one long rock pitch.

I tryed the 5.9 rock route a few years ago. We got lost near the 5th pitch). We bailed. I hear it's the longest route in tahoe.

Maggies peak is steep loose and a lot of fun.

I will not post a photo. I never had one before I went.

have fun

Thank you Scott. I am looking to do the wi4/5.9 route this winter, hopefully. That's why a photo with a line would help. Currently I have no clue where the rock pitches are. But doing the gully would also be fun and no need for any photo of a line for that, obviously.

I'd like to do it this winter too. It's been a long time since it's come in fat or at all.

Would be hilarious to wait in line up there in winter.
