I think that Largo will be well enough for a Party and a Lap Dance this Spring, that's a great idea Fish. That's why you need to be in charge as Coz pointed out up thread. . .

Spoke to John and Krista tonight. Krista is not a scammer, she is a friend of John and she was kind enough to take immediate steps to help him. She deserves our thanks.
Krista wanted me to assure everyone that the money collected by her will go to JL as intended, for purposes such as defraying his kids' travel expenses to be with him in the hospital. Not a penny for lap dances, either, much as that might cheer him up.
But John says we should hold off on further fundraising until he gives us the word. Once he is out of the hospital, he can direct us to the best way we can all help him. He thanks everyone for their support and offers of help.

I agree with that mighty. I fact I feel that the sheep people don't really know how to throw a good party anyway. The Stone Masters do know how to Party, so we shall take care of the planning. The Theme shall be Lap Dances for Largo. . . Oh covelocos, lets talk.
Edit, Rick does this mean we'll need to start a separate Lap Dance for Largo fund?

This is the real Krista Goodsitt and though I am not a Nigerian whore or a two bit actress, I tried to help a friend. I believe it is fine to ask for the legitimacy of something like chipin, but a far more selfish deed to call someone names and attack their character without a shred of evidence. It has been challenging to understand Johns needs at this time and I hoped we could help with immediate needs. He did not simply break his ankle and I don't know what math geniuses are on this forum, but it's more than 187k. I will refund everything tomorrow. I hope people will still help in the future if that needs to be. Good job everyone! P.S. crimpgirl any time any where...

Lighten up. This wouldn't be the first time someone came out of the woodwork to take it upon themselves to solicit funds for a climbing legend, and in this case it turns out the recipient wasn't consulted prior:

Sorry, but that Chipin thing looked EXTREMELY shady, and Russ hit the nail on the head with his posts.
Speaking of Tim Greene, the memory of that debacle lingers many years later, with its rather interesting turn of events, and it turned out that Tim Greene seemed to have a string of bad luck that usually resulted in people sending him money. Gotta love the generosity of people quick to help out without questioning anything and assuming everything is on the up and up...
I don't see where anyone called you names or attacked your character. Frankly, it would be insanity to send money through some website put up by a total stranger, even if there WAS any contact info on the page. Sorry you were so offended.

I think returning the money is the right thing here. It can be given to JL another time. The digital age made all of this too easy. Much of this should never have happened without at least a shred more effort in planning and talking to people - certainly the man deserves that, so does someone wanting and willing to give more than lunch money to the cause.
