It's nice to see things getting a bit ironed out!
I'm not being facetious with that.
We don't really have steerage yet, but we have an interim fund going.
Ricky said he would organize the spring party (fundraiser portion).
Maria is our industry connection if we want one.
Now we all know something more about the accident and some details about John's current progress.
If the chipin thing is no longer valid, then the link should be taken down. I just donated to it *before* reading to the end of this thread. So.. what's the deal?
Hey Forest, I just refunded your money. The chipin is still active for those wishing to donate. John knows about the fund and has endorsed it on Rock and Ice. Sorry for the confusion.
Hey Dean....jsut read the first post you put up, noticed my name. Fer sure I'll be all in to help out, just give me the word and I'll start the wheels movin'. Timing may be a bit tricky on my end, I might be back in Colorado Springs for a spell end of April, beginning of May. Either Way I can do whatever needs to be done. We'll talk.
Peace
Thanks Forest, and thank you for your donation. I defiantly could have done things a little differently and wish I would have. It was the best I could do at the time. I understand that people have been scammed before so it makes sense that you make sure your money is going where you intend it to go. My intention was to give John a little cushion for when he is released from the hospital so he can concentrate on his rehab and not be so overwhelmed with the bills and such that have racked up. So thanks everyone for your contributions and thanks to everyone for keeping it on the up and up so that we make sure these funds in the future are well intended. I will keep the chipin up until John decides to end it. I look forward to a huge party in the future that John can participate in and enjoy with the community that has shown lots of love in their own way, you guys are awesome!
I defiantly could have done things a little differently
You definitely were a bit defiant. ;-)
Cheers for taking the initiative to help, and for weathering the Supertopo Storm™ (which was actually pretty tame, IMKSHO).
I'm glad you understand the initial skepticism - the Bachar fiasco was (and still is) completely unconscionable,
and there were even a bunch of people who repeatedly chimed in vouching for Tim Greene.
So I posted a link to the chipin for John on Rockreations Facebook page after they posted John's thank you to them. The link has now been removed. Whats up with that? Why wouldn't they want to help out?
They do it for John, they'd have to do it for every climber that got an oweeee and cried "help". They could also perceive some liability issues that reinforces the fact John got hurt badly there.
Just my thoughts,
