P.S. crimpgirl any time any where...

Indeed! No good deed goes unpunished. A recap:

A crowd starts gathering with pitchforks about this unknown possible evil entity and I mention that she is not an unknown, but rather a "Friend" of Largo's (facebook friends come in all shapes - real friend, acquaintances, relatives - especially for him given his celebrity). And for this I get the "any time any where"?

I certainly did not call you a two-bit actress or a whore or anything awful nor were those my feelings. I don't see you threatening those who did that. What a piece of work you are!

But if you want to tangle with me, no problem.

Krista is clearly just wanting to help, but she's a bit sensitive and apparently doesn't understand the supertopo crowd.

I saw nothing offensive in what Crimpie said, why single her out?
She put "friend" in quotations and Krista read too much into that.

I mean there are people throwing around the Bachar rip off and "gullibility".

Crimpie said nothing offensive at all in my mind.

Krista, come back! Or I'm going Crimpie in the second........

There is talk of a "Spring Cleanup" at Joshua Tree, along the lines of the FaceLift. Perhaps any fundraiser for John could be coordinated with it? It'd be all the more reason to make the trip - help out with the cleanup etc during the day(s), attend the fundraiser one evening, and perhaps other entertainment on other night(s).

Hey guys sorry for my rant. I was hit with all of this yesterday and I just needed some time to talk with everyone involved. The chipin was the brain child of a few of Johns friends and I have been left to deal with it and deal with my life right now too. I am not angry about people joking around I'm just frustrated that I couldn't get a second to explain myself. I received many angry emails from contributers threatening fraud charges. All I'm saying is that in this social media age people expect things at the click of a mouse and sometimes it takes a little more time. Again this was only set up for immediate expenses John has incurred. I always expected someone would set up a bigger fundraiser at a later time.

Crimpgirl I'm just busting your balls calm down...

This thread is a testimony to the best and worst human instincts, the worst ones exacerbated by the casual and mindless insensitivity that seems to characterize much internet discourse. It isn't turning into what I would call one of our finest hours.

I think Krista deserves both thanks and some apologies. If she is listening, I don't think she should refund the donations already made, contributions made by people of good heart and good intentions who sincerely wanted to help a fallen comrade and mentor.

The Torah says, "do not stand idly by while your neighbor bleeds." It does not say, hey, better check with your neighbor about whether he wants help or not. I'd say the perception that our friend Largo could use a bit of help is accurate. Of course he doesn't want to ask for it and feels he doesn't need it---maybe he really doesn't, I certainly don't know anything about the state of his finances. But I see all that as rather beside the point. You do your best, within your own abilities, to help people who need help. It isn't in response to a request, it is part of striving to be a decent human being, a struggle we see being lost on a daily basis on the internet, but which goes on anyway.

If, at the end of the day, Largo genuinely has no use for the cash, he is free to turn around and use it to help someone who he sees as more in need. Or whatever. What counts for the community is making the gesture, something that has begun to happen. Krista, don't let the worst instincts and behavior of the group overwhelm the best.

So, if I understand this correctly, we are setting up an octagon at the Coz house for a three round MMA match between Krista and Crimpie with Bird as the ref.
Russ is gonna hold the bets and give the house cut to Largo so that when the cast comes off he can get lap dancing lessons from a Nigerian actress?

Not correct. Russ nominated Bill Russell to hold the money and pour the beer. Otherwise, spot on Ron.

I disagree. If I gave x amount of money to help defray medical expenses, that is what I would like to see happen with the money - not to some charity I can choose on my own, not to fly family around the globe.

The premise was the fund is for medical expenses. If someone would like to set up a fund for something else, then that should be stated clearly and openly up front.

The money should be returned.

Still trying to work out a role for Ron (Toker Villain). Security, maybe? Or would that just scare people away? Maybe we could have a sushifest also, and Ron could help with that?

Now that the paypal account on chpin is confirmed legit why not leave it up and we can donate?

I was going to donate and then suddenly all these doubts surfaced here so I waited.

Regardless of what Largo is implying he doesn't need it, I bet anything he'll need it for sure.

This will be a huge expense unless his insurance will cover all of it?

Will it?
