My friends mom died in her Eagle Rock home..The neighbors found her a few days after she had died...My friend Brian had the house remodeled and rented it out to a single mother with 2 kids...Last time i was down there the mother mentioned to Brian that she could still hear his mother walking thru the house...Brian asked the single mother if she was alright with the noise and she said brians mom was friendly and she was okay with the noise...Go figure..?

As the "Best man" in a wedding and at an ALL NUDE strip club, I voluntarily got on stage with two ladies and took it ALL off...

On topic if you ask me. I'm sure a number of people were haunted as a result

I don't believe in ghosts. However, I do believe there are things that are inconceivable to our senses.

In '82 I worked at the California State Prison in Tehachapi as a Correctional Officer. During the midnight count, the place is locked down & inmates are in their bed area. Well, one night my partner and I are waiting for the count to clear. I'm sitting at one of those big ass green metal desks like most of us remember our teachers had in grade school, finishing up the paperwork; my partner kicking it with his feet on the other side of desk opposite from me. Then all of a sudden, this desk raises up off the floor about 4" and then bangs its legs one by one diagonally on the floor. I immediately scoot back in my chair against the wall and stand up, while my partner about tips over and then stands up shouting, "What are you doing, man?!" I replied that I was doing, "Nothing" and raised up my hands. This lasted close to 30 seconds or more, then stopped.

We certainly had the watch commander laughing at us. There was one CO that approached me after the incident to tell me that he believe us, as he had chased what he had thought was an inmate into a restroom to clear the hall of the same building for count, only to find no one. The prison was opened in 1932 and there had been rumors of 'ghosts' since I had started working there.

Believe what you will, but I know what I witnessed. Ghost or not, it was supernatural.

I used to have weird sh#t happen to me alot. It started when i lived in florida, i would wake up in the middle of the night and it felt like someone or something was pushing down on the foot of my bed. I try to go back to sleep but it would just persist then stop, This wasn't every night, maybe four five times a month. One night i was sound asleep, the bed starts moving down like someone is sitting on the foot of the bed, by now i've had it, scared and pissed, i whip the covers off and look over and see a black shadow go into my closet. Fast forward a few years, i'm visiting my brother and ex-brother in-law in rural Ga. I'm with my girlfriend at the time and i wake up to hear someone whisper my name, I roll over and my chick is staring at me and says did you hear that. I'm like WTF was that. My brother had a Dr's appt. that morning and i thought maybe he came home early and was locked out, wasn't the case. I always had an uneasy vibe from that house. A few years later, i'm in my bed back to the wall, my bed is literally touching the wall, the effing bed starts to move down right at the middle of my back like someone is trying to wake me up sh#t my pants once again, it finally stops. Three years ago, i'm vacuuming my house upstairs, my dog is down stairs barking his ass off and running around like he is playing with someone. I turn off the vacuum and hear childrens laughter coming from down stairs. Haven't heard it since, but still really weird. Oh, and one more thing. Ayear or so ago i had this chick at my house and i went to the store for something or another and when i get home she asks if i smoke, isay no why. She says she thought she smelle d cigarette smoke. Two days ago, i'm in my basement taking the tiles down from my drop ceiling and when i tilt one of the tiles an empty pack of Pall Malls falls onto the floor.

Dinugus,, dingle,,,i guess brusied and lumps on the head are not factual. Nor are three ER and police reports..

Those are facts, and factual. and THAT is all there needs to be.

i love a good ghost thread--we haven't had one since LEB's cat came back.

Ghost or not, it was supernatural.

that's a point for a nicety. we got people here like dingus, dr. F, and that unreal entity, locker, who try to stamp out incontrovertible evidence simply by asserting that it doesn't exist. if you've ever gone to a skeptic's club meeting--i have on occasion when they (rarely) offer a decent speaker--you'll find yourself among the same sort of crowd you might encounter at a model railroad store--people somehow addicted to a tight, technical little world, playing off the confidence they can derive from fellow believers. to the outside observer, it resembles the fellowshipping at a church of a small denomination of a narrow rigid creed.

my point is, this stuff is natural, very much a part of our natural world. as richard senate pointed out in his ghost course, ghosts are intrinsic to recorded history. yes, some things are conflated or sensationalized for a "good story", but there is a core of truth behind the bulk of it.

i've gotten to like most of my antagonists on ST, but i have to say that i think their vehemence over subjects of difficult belief belies closed minds and insecure points of view.

still waiting for the follow-up on splitter's encounter with what some would call the god of negative energy. i have an academic background in mythology, and i find it interesting how the same themes play from culture to culture. it's hard to escape the theme of basic good versus total evil.

some of the other accounts here confirm a familiar aspect of the paranormal: some people are more sensitive than others. why a so-called "scientific" mind can't accept that is beyond me. it ought to be as approachable as trying to find the right tune-in for a radio signal. a good scientist would take the data and work with it, not reject it outright.

IS this where i tell you to go fly a kite dingleberry?

I said THE ER REPORTS EXIST- as do police reports. Now go ahead and call me a liar again...

As for accusing my buddy of anything, you know NOT of what you speak,, not a tiny squeak.

Personally I haven't experienced anything first hand, but do believe there's a lot more than what our eyes percieve. Maybe ghosts are extra-dimensional from different times. Maybe we are ghosts to them. I don't know much about physics, but do believe physcisists are on the brink of big things that will change the way we think of this world. Brian Green's The Elegant Universe is a very good read, even for someone who doesn't understand physics. String Theory in particular is a interesting idea. Instead of the known four dimensions, it suggests there are 12 or 13 dimensions total, so small we can't percieve or know the laws of physics there. Wish I understood physics more and am sure I am butchering String Theory, but do know I don't know sh#t about this world and am open minded about what's out there.

One girlfriend I dated told me of her and her friends playing with a Oiuja Board when they were in highschool. At first they were just asking normal questions and getting some simple answers that none thought was too abnormal or scary. One of her friends had a baby in the room that really started to get active and crying/screaming. They asked how to make the baby quit and the response was simple, KILL HER. That was the end of the game and to hear how terrified my girlfriend was talking about it a decade later, I believed the story to be true. Never played with a Oiuja Board and am wondering if anyone has?

"They asked how to make the baby quit and the response was simple, KILL HER."...

Since there are no ghosts...

hate to say it...

But there was a potential MURDERER in that group...

;-)

Though funny...

it is actually somewhat TRUE...

Someone in that group had to have been thinking that thought...

Otherwise the damned little indicator job wouldn't have reacted to the question...

200 posts and no Oiuja? Not even a Oiuja board would of predicted that.
