A few photos gleaned over the last year or two. It appears that climbers of El Capitan like to take their furry friends with them. (OK, your spouses'/daughters' teddies - have it your way.) And as some of the more manly have come out of the closet and posted about them here, it must be common.

The original Teddy and his teddy:
If I have a chance, I'll find a photo of Winnie the Pooh, too.
So, 'fess up. Who has a climbing teddy, and where have you been with it? How about some photos? (Pete: No crabs, thank you very much.) Many of your teddies have been to places we can only dream of, so let's hear about them.
I imagine this thread to head into the abyss of titties and butts a few posts hence.
I thought for sure that Locker had started this thread, just from the title...then I saw it was Anders and thought, WTF..... it's all worked out so far, ..... so far....
Dale Bard with Theodore Edmund Bear... aka Teddy Bear.

Dale used to bring Theodore Edmund Bear on walls. His purpose; "to pilot the haul bags down"... back in the tossing days. Theodore, or Teddy to his close friends, is tucked in next to Dale in the photo.

The bear was named "Winnie" because he originally came from near Winnipeg. He became the mascot of the Fort Garry Horse, part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Thus proving that real men have teddies.
Another Teddy - this was during his first year coming climbing, at the Peterskill area of Gunks. I have a friend who takes her dog up to the High E ledge for picnics(in a backpack) but I would never even think of ding it with Teddy. So...he stays on the ground, as base camp manager.
MH .... Thanks for the "real" Winnie background....I had no idea! Great pics everyone, Happie, I can't wait to see The Tedster again....so cuddly, so curly! You a lucky girl
yes, Debbie took that picture, Feb 8, 1980, in our Tarrytown appartment, I was probably reading from Stephanie's favorite book of the time, Home for a Bunny ("...A home for a bunny/A home of its own/under a rock/under a stone/where will the bunny find a home?") which we probably still have stuffed somewhere around (or Steph has it at her place).
Here is a photoshopped version of that problematic negative...
and the fact that is seems to be so ephemeral is a great metaphor for our memories...
...I'm not of the bring-your-toys-on-a-climb-school, so no talisman accompany me on climbs, but some of my gear is so old that they may be promoted to talismanic status...
Here's a picture of a girl and her stuffed animals and beloved cat... probably a couple of years after the shot above...
i am from the old days, when a teddy, was a bear... :)
i have had NO clue for these recent times as to 'what a stuffy' is, :o
SEEMS i am learning, when i see ads at the store now, though...
happy to see teddy bears going on climbs, though, :)
(i sure liked that little white teddy-dog, posted bit back--have heard of a few of its adventures)...
:)
edit:
neat old-days stuffed animals from the winnie the pooh,
thanks mighty hiker for sharing that... :)
Found near the base of the NA. Stuffed it in the crack in the photo and left it for another party to adopt. Someone dropped it, anyone want to claim it?
Harry illustrates another approach - simply make use of the "teddies" that are already present. No need to bring one along. And we all know that Off Topic Marmot is a useful fellow to have around.
Bearer bears say they'll bear their burdens no longer until they get a raise. They claim they make barely enough to support their cubs. They bare their souls: We need two more rupees per day, Sahib, or we sit here until it snows.

Greg gets killer jams on Powerline, but I couldn't touch it.
