Just read something about gun and ammo sales going up as a result of the election. Interesting reaction having citizens arming themselves, I'm at a loss as to what the heck they are so afraid of? Citizens that are largely unarmed? They think in our gun obsessed society someone is going to take their rights away? Sure seems to me the NRA is one great group of marketers for the sale of arms. Too bad they're using fear as a driver because the worse thing you can loose in any relationship is trust. For a society to make any progress we need trust.

I nuked my thread because of the few adverse posts by some who I would consider nutcases. I did not want to break Supertopo.com decorum by allowing a couple of nutters to ruin a thread that had merit, in my opinion. I was making a valid point, but the chancers decided to derail the thread. So I yanked it. Only the third time in seven years I have nuked one of my threads.

I still have the entire 9 post thread Patrick.
Mine was the last post;

It isn't necessarily about blood sports Patrick.
Dick size isn't important. Group size is.
Challenging people on the basis of combat experience is like judging an alpinist on the basis of how many loose rocks they have been hit by.
Edit
Yeah, there's a lot of paranoia. The gun stores are doing a brisk business.
Ammo has not been snatched up like last time though, probably the cost, but it is moving.
I bought 3 guns yesterday (Saiga 20, Bushmaster varminter with fluted barrel, Rossi lever action .357), but thats no big deal. I had my eye on a nice used over and under 12 too on Wednesday but the manager had the day off and when I came back yesterday to wheel and deal it was GONE (!!!&*#$&@!!)

Splitter,
"It is far too late to wring hands over the size of one's pud."
Happiness is really cool gunmetal. It means we got peace for a while.
Time has no vagina. It creates itself. A better image is a black hole. Similar, in fact, to the one Weej seems to dwell in. I see his point, though. We as a nation are the laughingstock of those civilized societies which prevent easily-obtained firearms.
On behalf of the bears, deer, wild sheep and goats, and all the rest of the targets of "sportsmen", you can all kiss our shriveled dicks, you dominant gun-toting wankers. Weej, you hit the center.
What is it that makes us think it's cool or admirable to wipe out defenseless animals from a safe distance with a high-powered rifle? It's called "hunting" and it's legal. This does not make it a nice thing. I think it's much more admirable to stalk "prey" with a camera. And you don't need tags, there's no mess, and the creatures get to go on grazing.
Hey, Ron, it's how I feel, have felt, and will feel. I give you the law, but that doesn't satisfy. I give you tradition in this country. Still no satisfaction. It's either necessary to kill game or it is not. Private land, do what you will.
I am simply crying in the E-wilderness.

. I am a vegan who owns an assault rifle. Wrap your head around that one.
I wraped my head around it....what does eating a healthy diet have to do with guns? I don't get it....
The Right Wing has been sold fear - they don't feel safe with out a gun.
Their guns are being taken away...
It's all advertising
Buy more guns..
I've traveled and worked for 20 years in the worst areas of the country.
Never felt a need for a gun.
And I give thanks that I don't have any type of fear like that in me.

Norwegian, you are denying the true nature of man. Man is an animal and any animal, plant, or other creature on this planet is here because they fight to survive. Peace does not make a man from a chimpanzee. All species have a constant arms race with their own kind and with all others who might ever take their resources and lead them to extinction.
Nobility is only a strange side effect of a big brain and will be ignored or will lead the human race to extinction while some other species passes us by... by buying guns.
You want to rid the world of those that buy guns? Get a gun and start shooting because you can't get rid of them with poetry.

I feel the same way about an individuals right to firearms as I do an individuals right to climb on public lands.
Saying that I use a gun to prove my manliness is about as dumb as saying I climb to prove my manliness.

Lets talk about Paranoia for a moment here.
We have America arming itself like NEVER before. That is many millions of people. So can we conclude that there just may be a worry or two down the road? When you look at the odd govt agencies that don't seem to have anything to do with LE stockpiling hollow point ammo across the country leaves one with questions. And then read the NDAA 2013 law that comes into effect in January and states wishing to succeed at alarming rates.
Ive lived 54 years thus far and never have seen the likes of what goes on today. I use the Germany of old in comparison to these actions taken by our govt as the 2013 law does not deal with terrorism but rather "belligerents". Which means You or I. A blanket law that allows them to do anything they please to US w/o due process of any article 111 kind. Its quite easy to compare that to Nazi Germany, and what we accept today will be increased upon tomorrow.

DAMM SKIPPY the 2013 NDAA law is ALL obamas. And i ask WHY would such constitutional eroding laws would be put into place against US as attached to the DHS and terrorism.? Once again, the 2013 law has NOTHING to do with terrorism, it deals with citizen "belligerents".
Perhaps the last time this was tried, was by the BRITISH and a revolution was started that freed US from that.

I'm kinda scared of belligerent 'Mericans, Ron. There are plenty of American terrorists. Caucasians even!
I agree with gun ownership here in America despite all evidence to the contrary. Maybe if the paranoid knee didn't jerk so hard, people would take y'all a little more seriously. A paranoid mind with a concealed weapon is not a comforting thought.
Again, I know you guys and your reduced reading comprehension when it comes to this issue, so I repeat: I agree with the right to own guns here in America.
Please, refer to above ^^^^^^^^^^ before spewing vitriolic froth my way ;).

Certainly Jeebs there are crazies in EVERY crowd.. No way to get around that,, but they have always been around,, first throwing stones, then clubs, then dull rock knives- and onto guns. Things change, and the world is a dynamic place. BUT we have choices, and one of those it to write your reps about this law.. Im shocked to find out how little attention this is getting from the very citizenry this will affect.

Big piles of guns and ammo will not win the day if you take the first one between the eyes.
Over 20 Navy Seals with Air support have been taken out with a single rocket. Not the norm, but all I'm saying is that just because you think you're all badass and armed doesn't mean you won't drop as though you were standing there empty handed.

I think that I know what this is, but could someone give me a synopsis? I looked this up and it sounds like something I thought the gov had been working on for some time. Not really an Obama thing, but something started quite awhile ago. The Patriot act being a big part of it.
Something like.'
If we think you are a terrorist or just someone we don't like.
We can arrest you.
We don't have to tell you why.
We don't have to tell anyone why.
You have rights, but we can ignore them.
Is this the gist?
We can hold you as long as we want.
