Most of y'all hear know the drill so I'll give just the basic details.
$30/person per night.
two nights
all you can eat
check, paypal, cash work. must pay in advance to hold you spot.
Currently as I'm the only sushi chef committed the event is capped at 16. The more help I have behind the bar the more that can stuff their pie-holes.
I'll begin to ask for funds early next year.
shameless plug:
I've started a SushiFest facebook group. The clan of sushifesterers is growing beyond ST. h^^ps://www.facebook.com/groups/123690617781321/
I'm also going to try and get sushibynature.com back up and running.
21 'fests and counting is too much to keep organized on the taco....
I'm starting Sushi by Nature back up again. doing private parties in and around Boulder. I started a facebook page: h^^ps://www.facebook.com/SushiByNature
Sounds wicked! Maybe I can talk Jackie into going for her anniversary again...Coincidentally the first sushifest was the last time we ever celebrated it....
Also willing to help with kitchen stuff and prep, though I don't know how to roll sushi. Still, it would taste just as good, plus people grab at the plate the moment they see it coming in for a landing. By the time they notice "hey, this roll is kinda messy" the piece would already be in their mouth!
One scheduling conflict - Gordon Fest needs to be made BEFORE SushiFest in order for me to attend both. Usually the Gordon blasts are the last weekend or second last in April. It's getting hot by then! What about making that one say....April 14th???

I think this would be a good occasion to comport ourselves in the civilized manner that was the new norm at the vedauwoo Sushi Fest, eager, but no wild grabbing!
The IRS Tax filing deadline is on Monday, April 15, 2013.
perfect.

yeah, all those polite people. Where did they come from?
In July of next year I'm heading to Isla Mujeres, Mexico to dive with whale sharks. The entire trip is a fundraiser to bring awareness to the despicable industry of shark finning. The trip will be formalized and announced soon. Once that happens I'll begin officially fundraising for the trip. The trip organizers are asking each us to raise $2000 for the trip. All proceeds will be a donation towards the cause. I believe they expect to raise $12-$15K.
I'm getting a lot of interest for this event. It appears I have help behind the sushi bar and if so the cap is 27. 108 days to go - hah - so it's getting close to time to officially reserving your spot.
topless beach: if the titty thread is still alive and thriving I'll have some personal picts to share.
But as you know, I don't eat the seafood, so on that list, I am NOT included...
But if a general "Head count" is wanted, go ahead and stick my slightly LARGER head on the list (Mine and Tony's HEADSIZE can be a little off putting)...
IF I do go, Blitzo will no doubt be with me...
We are SUPPOSED to be on a "ROAD TRIP" during that time period...
It COULD change and I can explain why via email...
"you have not been excluded because we already know you are going to BailBoi.... that's another list...."...
I am ASSUMING that I am #1 on that, "LIST"...
(Some may prefer put me in the #2, category)...
;-)
EDITED:
"locker... the list is only for those eating sushi."...
Nature, that's what I figured...
Just thought you might want to know a total headcount...
Not KNOWING if Blitzo and I will positively be attending, IF there is ANY chance that payment can be made the day of the event, if we do make it, I can and WILL cover Blitzo...(Of course I fully understand if that doesn't come to fruition)
Mike - no real cutoff date. I do have a cutoff limit which is 16 if it's just me and 25 if I have another sushi chef. two weeks or more in advance is more than enough time.
If you are planning on attending I suggest ensuring your spot by coughing up your nickels and dimes soon. I'm trying to get confirmation on my second chef but as it stands right now the cap is the first 16 that pay are.... as Brick would say... IN!
Doug;
I noticed I was on the IN list.
I'm not 100 percent sure if I can make it so you should put me on the maybe list.
It all depends what my finances are at the time, and if the IRS doesn't soak me to bad. It's a bummer it's so soon after tax time.
Climbed at the Battle of the Bulge all day last tuesday. No one else there, no wind, perfect sun......toasty!
Combine all that with sushi and you're good to go.
Yeah, RUB it in, Nature!
There's no good sushi places here in Apple Valley.
But when I get back to Vegas one of these days,
I'm going to camp out at Makinos for the whole Dinner time SushiBuffet!

Hello nature and Mr. E; Mimi here. The suds selection in SLC is not an issue anymore. The liquor stores carry all of the familiar imports and microbrews. There's a good one by Scott Carson's shop, International Mt. Equipment by the REI on the bench. Check into Scott's shop while you're there. Great guy.
Just got back from 6 days at the creek ! Couple of notes.......Where/how the heck are we gonna shoe horn all these folks in on a busy weekend at the creek?? We looked around the new Creek Pasture renovations and there is a big group site in the very back. I think we all know you just can't show up there and hope for the best. # 2 I THINK they sell REAL beer at a liquor store in Blanding....apparently cold too (which doesn't really happen in Utah).
Carry on....Doug I will see about a few folks for you. I was climbing with your sushi roller helper and they seem solidly in. Il get back in touch with them. Once again as I said I think there are a few others whomn want to join the festivities. Bump !!!!!!
We'll be there a week or so early (probably the Monday before). Our first visit to the creek so not quite sure how it usually works spacewise, but if we can save spots in some fashion, we'd be glad to do so. Our current plan is the Bridger Jacks sites unless someone has a better recommendation.

If anyone is interested in a pound bag or more the cost per bag is $13.34
Also, I'm going to take orders for my Chili pepper and Ginger Tataki sauce.
If you've had it you'll remember. If know I'll let others speak for how good it is.
It'll probably be about $20-$25/ 4oz jar.
If you are interested in any other of the sauces I make up let me know. (seaweed salad sauce, sushi rice vinegar sauce).
If you'd like me to order extra fish I'd also be happy to do that. In a way it helps everyone out as the larger fillet I get generally the better quality it is.
Ahi is around $19/lb
Taz Salmon I think $16/lb
Niragi toro $17/lb

So there's a guy in Denver who rans Sushi by Night. Yes... another SbN.
He did what might have been the first "sushifest" in potrero years ago. He didn't call it sushifest.
Anyway... he's in which means there's room for more.
though the deal is.... if you pay before a week from monday it's $30/night. AFter that it'll be $35 as I'm ordering extra just in case and that might mean i eat those costs.

Doug has asked us to produce and ship shirts for the Sushifest crowd so here you go!
No images of the finished shirts yet as they are in progress but here is the art.
Shirts are silkscreened (no CafePress iron-on crap here!) in the United States by an artisan printer on 100% organic cotton tees. All shirts are available in black or white and are printed both sides in two shades of blue.

given the relative low number of initial commitments sticking with one color was necessary. I hate white as it gets dirty and these colors wouldn't work with many other colors.
Plus black is part of the sushi by nature image.
perhaps next time around other colors could be added.
I had one from before and have no idea where it went. Not in the budget now, but some day I will be able to get one.
The one from before was on white, and it looked great - Black may be more cool, and it may be the Sushi by Nature image but if there were to be an impromptu wet t-shirt contest at the Fest, I think we can all agree that white would be the preferred color.....(not that I intend to participate in such an activity, of course).
Oh- and the option for White came up when I checked just now.

bunch of tourists, come into my state, climb sandstone WITH TAPE...I don't drive to boulder and chip your granite, do I ??? prolly rack gates IN too...
...lol - so looking forward to seeing you guys, and not freezing my nards off like last time...
funny/ironic - I might actually be able to climb at this fest, but I just blew up my vocal cords taking a massive steroid anti-inflammatory and singing for the band debut last wednesday instead of cancelling so I prolly won't be able to talk ;-) and you know me keeping quiet is like my second nature...should prolly tape my big mouth shut !
I'm heading down solo sometime Friday afternoon. Anyone know where they might be climbing who would welcome another? Any chance of posting on the board at Beef Basin? I would sure like to get a couple of pitches in Friday afternoon.
It's snowing like a pig in Ouray.....probably not too good in the Creek. Forecast good starting tomorrow.
I'm meeting two friends at Supercrack parking lot at 11:00 am on Friday.
OK I'm officially in. Chelsea is also. We should arrive on Friday in time for some afternoon climbing, and will look on the message board to see where people are at.
I'm excited to climb a bunch, eat fish, & hang with friends. See you there!
we're on the hill next to the toilet just above the campsites you marked as desired. They have been 100% occupied (one of them for the last two days solely by a local's water can...pretty clear they headed in to town until the weather gets better) since we got here.
I'll be rolling in between 8 and 9 this evening. I'll check Creek Pasture first. Then, leave a note at the bulliten board, if needed. If there is no note, then Creek Pasture it is.
Creek pasture it is ! Kevin, barely visible has secured a spot with ample parking. Well have spread out for camping, but it's at no where near heavy weekend capacity there....yet!
Site is on the right look for turquoise mtn hardware tent blue loveseat
I had fun, made a lot of new friends, re-connected with old....
Good food. Thanks for cooking that salmon for me. The afternoon
Saturday was very beautiful, and the sun warm. The air got quite cool the
minute the sun fell over the big red buttes.... It made me think
how fast time has flown. I can only imagine those days when
people such as Layton drove into the desert on dirt
roads, in half broken-down cars, for the pure sake of adventure....
Really nice event. The weather was great, the group was fun, the food was awesome. A whole lot of Mikes. Lots of cameras around so I'm sure there will be pictures soon.
Thanks to Riley and Em for climbing with me on Friday. Thanks to Erik, Skip and Brian for putting up with my complaining. Thanks to the good folks from Arizona for giving me a ride back on Saturday and for all the positive energy. Thanks to the really cute young woman who gave me a belay on Way Rambo. Jaybro it was great to see you as always. Take care brother. Thanks to Aaron for letting me crash in your site. Thanks to Roy for the interesting conversation. I like the way you think. Mostly, thanks to Nature for all the great food and for creating the event that brought us all together.
What my brother Mike said! great event! Just got home photos to follow tomorrow or so. Hopefully some air delivery shots make it in. Thanks Kevin, Mikes, em, Roy pgmnkyboy, Riley, skip&E, Angelo, nature big time and your team!!Angelo, rich, Aaron, Tim, Doctor and not to forget all the dogs!!
Great to see everyone again: Radical, Pennsylenvy, Paganmonkeyboy, Jaybro, Tarbuster, Donini (and got to meet his beautiful wife Angela finally), ClimbRunRide, The Doctor, Em Knott, and the Mikes: Mike F, Mike from Phoenix, Mike the Vet (who flew in from Flagstaff, landed in a field and rode his bike to the party),Hardly Visible Reeotch and others.
Great to meet some of the other Flag folks, including Joel, Cam, John, Annie, etc.
What's up with selling out to corporate sponsors like Montrail? Maybe it's o.k. if you do it? Just wondering. You should get Fiocchi to sponsor your next gig in Nevada, they'd be all over that!
Dunno gear wise, just typing pumps me out so I wasn't climbing, but sounded like ring locks to tight hands at best; solid 12 originally. The Dr says the edge has blown out a bit from falls on cams so that feet get a tad better purchase than earlier ascents would've shown; prolly mid/low 12 now.
3 cruxes; my notes on grade are at home. Tough 12A transition at the bottom, technical 11+ fiddling at the lip under the headwall, then headwall ~12B. Mebbe Joel will post up!
I have to say ... have to .... Joel smoothed that thing on-site flash (I'm pretty sure he'd not been on it prior) and I can tell you he is rock solid as well as a pure joy to witness out on the stone; solid feet, consumate gear skills, super methodical, and never rushed ... not at that grade.
Whoops... I'm probably only responsible for ... um, like 650 of those. Sorry!
You know how in tennis it's bad form when rallying to knock a ball too far crosscourt and out of reach of your opponent such that they just have to go and fetch the ball with their hands? ... and then out of politeness and a tinge of guilt it is customary to yell across the net: SORRY!
Hopefully picking up that court full of errant tennis balls will be worth our while Doug!

I had a very relaxing weekend. I really want to thank Doug for helping to turn our "virtual" community into an "actual" community. It is always good to hang out with old friends, and to meet some new ones at the same time.
Totally awesome trip. Great to see everyone. First trip to Indian Creek for me and we're already plotting and scheming to get back for a longer trip. Can't wait to see more pics!
The little trailer took a hit.. got home and we were missing something...
Big shout out to Terence, Cameron, and Em for chipping in big time to help nature make this thing come off so well!
One of the nights in particular, I believe it was Saturday, we couldn't even get anybody over by the fire pit to place any more orders. Now that's a satiated crew, yo!!!
The guidebook suggested rack for Supercrack: (1) 1.5, (1) 2.0, (1) 2.5, (2) 3.0, (5) 3.5. Jim led it with just 3 pieces of pro. Inspiring to watch this Superhero in action!
