hey eKat
what's with yer piston bully fetish??
;-)

Ain't snowin' OR rainin' here in the SCruz mts. I took a cross country hike on New Year's Eve and the criks which should be runnin' well by now are just pathetic trickles. All the ground is dust. The last rain here was Dec 8 and we've only got 2.8" total fer the season. Last year we were at 21" and THAT was a dry winter.

Flew over the Sierra on Monday coming home from the East coast. Good snow cover on the peaks west of Pine Creek Pass but all the foothills and the east bay hills are brown.

In the Northeast, a couple of days of rain, snow and ice before Christmas and now this.
The ice should be getting FAT in New England. Just wait a week for the stuff to consolidate.

hey there eKat
in fact I have driven one. An ancient growler (can't remember the brand name except I remember changing the plugs on the anemic Falcon straight six engine) when I was working maintenance at Solitude back in the stone age. Crawling through deep powder up to the top lift stations to get the communications equipment in order so they could open. Hoping the beast didn't slide sideways and backwards down a couple of gullies.
Dyamn, I'd almost forgotten about that pay-my-way-through-college job.

YUP it was a Tucker. Even new, they looked like they'd been welded up by an Oklahoma farmer! No wonder the Euros/Canucks have taken over the market. As they have so many markets, like buses, mass transit movers etc etc.

Stop you?
as if that were possible!

I'm praying like a little kid that the sky drops enough snow that we can use our new snowshoes tomorrow. (Thanks, mom!)

Walking home from the bus stop was a bit on the frigid side, but frigid temps + darkness = a blanket of snow crystals as far as you can see...herrlich!

But, I have a bone to pick with the Weather Channel...since when did they start naming snow storms??? Hercules? Seriously? It'll be maybe 10-15" of snow -- what's the rest of the country going to think?!! Hercules deserves better, like 3', maybe.

There's no snow in Tahoe because it's all on the roads in Colorado and Wyoming. ;-)

I've had some hellacious driving lately.

What Jan said! We're holed up here in northwestern Wyo, snowshoeing and shoveling. We made s'mores tonight around a fire and ran back into the cabin to eat them, the wind is so strong.
Bonnie and Clyde, enormous black lab siblings, sat this one out inside! Though they did have two hikes in the snow today.

eKat, I didn't even see the leaf in the picture when I took it -- I only noticed it when I went to post! C literally took two steps out the front door and flopped in the snow on the sidewalk and started making her snow angel...with a grin and sparkle in her eyes I couldn't resist trying to capture. I love snow. ")

And, naturally, it's New England, so it all melted today. Just like that. Sigh.

Winter apparently here in the Tahoe Sierra has been canceled. The citizens of the state are about to get a lesson on where their water comes from. If I hear one more person describe how beautiful the weather is I'm going to smack them up the side of the head.

Cry California this is a disaster, major bummer!
