i had every reason to be proud.
my day:

up pre-dawn.
saws loaded and sharpened.
fuel in the stars.

the moon is a sliver,
but i can hang on.

i build the daughters a hearty lunch box,
make the wife coffee.
hang the laundry,
drink a beer.

check my email?
what?
overdesigned. and chargin for it.
"fine, client. send me
the next assignment, minus the bill.
i work for free, if it concerns thee."

all in my whorld are dreamin
decorated gypsie's,

so i power the ride up
the grade and devour eastern horizon.

i fall cedar.
buck. split. fill the train.
it's only 8 am.

more beer, due upon concrete accomplishment.

so, off's i go into a vertical world,
because the horizontal one is too damn easy.

rope sole a buncha terrain.
it's time to depart,
upon my common life.

so's off go down the mountain
towards my make-believe.

im schleppin a full load of winter buyoos,
so im takin 50 as full.

this f*#ker passes me on a double yellow,
slams his stoppers on because there motors
a semi beyond us,
i barely stop with the ill-warning.

im pretty enraged. on the road.
bad marriage, there.

so i await oportunity,
when i see it i jump.

pass the mule, all thoroughbred norwegian is i,
and relax back into my rightful position.

we go, home.
no more drama.

im lickin ice cream pop,
jerry is telling me and the trees about spirtual oxygen,

all of a sudden i hear screeching tires in myne drive!
then bright lights, then a p.a.

"chp. whomever drives the silver tacoma,
come outta the house."

i finish my beverage, first,
then walk out (first dreching my scum 'neath the lawn rain)
and walk into his brights light.

"you hit someone on the highway."

"what? i don't know what you are speaking of."

"i have pictures, from the other driver."

so we walk around my truck.
nothing of battered media.

the cop relays to me:

"this fool passed you.
irrated you.
you passed him.
off his mirror, you ripped.
and now your up acreek 20 k deep."

"fine." i say. bring it.
im star deep in the atmosphere."

luckily he didn't check my pockets,
for whithin my secrets dwells
his understanding, and then
im sure all hell would've been
borne unto me.

so far, im short one
excessive shirt,
and that is all.

lessons.

oh neebe you are so romantic.
you are a blessing upon the soft pillow beneath my tired brow.

though please do not hope for me or migh.
please let be, be.

it is better that way, dear friend.
though your intent is blessed,
the outcome of your universal action
plagues my misery...

which is rightfully mine.
how 'bout this, neebee:

hope that all is.
because is is the boss of all passive voice.

the active verbs lay down in sacrificial repose,
when the almighty is,
speaks his will.

cheers to you neebee.
your sky is myne.
your dream, we share.
your goodness is a wind thru my still and dirty hair.

hey there say, norwegian...

and a good blessing back to you, this eve,
as well...

you are appreciated, by many, for bearing your
heart, so that we may always check our hearts,
and bear them out, as well....

take a small sit, when you can, on the porch this eve,
and just savor the maker of the greatoutdoor, and the gift of it...

happy good eve to you...

Wake up call or not. Your choice..Dude. get your sh#t together! Beer for breakfast will turn you into a complete loser sooner or later. Some sooner than others but all who think they can get away with drinking before noon with any kind or regularity end up total losers eventually. My neighbor just lost his wife and kids from that kind of BS.

tradman your sentiment is grand, iconic, genuine and sincere.
gesture taken.
im not immune to disaster.
it sits handsomely in my lap.

for now i can cloak it
with accomplishment,
but i forsee a threshold
where it cloaks me
with humility.

I took these shots @ 12:35pm this spring. I made $95.00 from the editors and this poor sod lost $15,000 (the estimated cost of a DWI in the state of VT) not counting the vehicle and whatever property he lost in the fire... Drugs and alcohol...

im a drunk.
though i know:

if you're cold, build a house.
if you're hungary, plant a garden.
if you're confused, search.

these are uncommon responses
in modern american culture.

ill situations substitute for
well-being
when you no longer know the hand that feeds you.

hey there say, tradmanclimbs...

thanks for the serious reminder of action reaction...

i had to pray for my ex-father-in-law (who actually WAS my father in law, all his life--he died of cancer)...

he was a hard-core alchoholic...
prayed so hard that his actions would not kill innocent
folks on the road--was awful... no one could stop him...

he, in his older-age finally stopped driving after he ran into a ditch
and could have drowned...

wish he would have learned sooner, inside his 'escape drink of social-brotherhood to himself and others' was a real man, that needed to come
out and be part of our lives...

we loved him... his last two years, i think--we FINALLY got to
really have and enjoy him...

thus--it broke our hearts when he died...
i am eternally grateful that his actions were 'caught' during
his driving days--it would have broke many hearts if he had killed
someone by drunk-driving...

his life was drinking daily...
his 'clean life' those last years, was= his taste of real freedom
and family love....

may all enjoy that freedom, is my prayer and hopes for better days,
for all that drink...

let's savor that freedom is there:
it comes with a price--the dare to 'walk a new and untreaded trail'

a trail that leads to more beauty than one suspects, when they first
see that scary TRAIL MARKER ahead that says:

HARD TRAIL AHEAD - BUT MUCH WORTH IT
LONG LASTING, BREATH-TAKING MEMORIES WILL BE YOURS

KEEP TO TRAIL, it CAN BE SLIPPERY AT TIMES...
*keep a few prayers handy, pace yourself...
you CAN make it - others have

i will never cease to hope, pray, and root for any that try...

As climbers we tend to glorify crazy rad behavior and geting the buzz on is a big part of that. It is so hard to see what is really going on when you are caught up in the glory days. problem is those glory days can not last. it is not physicaly possible. Either you start liveing a more healtly lifestyle or you fade away into a has been. The other alternative is it all comes to a screeching permanent halt for you or someone you inadvertantly afected...

One of my good music and photography friends has been clean and sober for about 7 years... His son had a rock an roll heart attack last week. We burried him sunday. 19 years old.. Would have turned 20 the day after he overdosed..

oh the caution!
stifles the bio-exertion.

when do we stamp out our fire?

so we heed culture's cause and i put heavy boots
to my verve...

"i'll be upstanding! righteous! contributing. admirable."

so my f*#kin embers flare right back up and
im sparkin new tomorrows while you're looking
back on smokey yesterdays.

whatever. you coast to dead.
i'll sprint.
its a race, and only our story wins.
