Sounds like a good adventure so far. Have fun and drink one for the homies that can't be there.

We had Survival over here. After his third cup of joe, he was good to go see his daughter's first of 3 basketball games at CSU,Chico. nita and I will be over for game two at 10:40.
We had a wild time last night. Survival got to meet some of my friends and we jammed quite a bit around the pool. My head hurts....

Timid...do you live in Chico? We lived there in the early seventies....do you ever go climbing at Salmon Hole? Unique but adventurous. Bald Rock Dome? Elephant Rock?

Throwpie. Lovejoy basalt is too dicey for my eternal beginner level. I've been to Grizzly dome at the tunnel in feather river canyon and pebble wrestled on Bald Rock but have only 3rd classed at Bald Rock Dome. One of my Chico poker friends, Brad has put up a fair amount of routes on the Dome.

Back to that lovejoy basalt and the more prevalent, Tuscan mud flows: Some people know how to climb on unpredictable chossy rock but not me.

Just had a yellow jacket sting my toe about three times. It is throbbing. Must go.

I remember some fairly solid rock at Salmon Hole...I led this one route, could have been a FA. As I recall, it started with an easy bit to a ledge then up a corner to a awkward bomb bay chimney. I would love to go look at it again...its been 40 plus years. There was another wall further east that we protected with knifeblades. Spooky as I recall. Good buildering at the campus too.

Almost ate it on the approach to the base of Bald Rock dome...slipped on some gravel, took the slide of death on some slabs only to be stopped at the brink by a solution pocket the exact size of my butt. Broke my back from the impact ( as I found out many years later when getting an xray) I was very sore for quite a while but fitness and youth kept me in traction till it healed.

wished i could have met more folks, when i was in calif, but it was
a miracle family trip and my mommy, sis, and kids, and grandkids were
a huge top priority, and love and hugs grew so sweet within us, to
make up for MANY MANY lost years, as, i live so far away...

just wish my daddy would have been here, still, to see and embrace all this...

also, praying for the bike to be ready for you, when you get back...

I lived in Harpo once, but I developed an attitude and moved to Groucho. Don't get me to talkin' about Gummo, but I've heard a little about the topic.

interesting set of WWI photos here. Watch for the ads.

They're kind of locked up, so it takes some doing to get copies.

You think I protest? Too much! I hate war.

Boomer lived to cut his wedding cake, as did his best man, Nick Ecounomo, both shown here with Bobbye and her new sister-in-law, my Aunt Dorathy, the bridesmaid.

But there is a very unpopular side of the First War, The GREAT WAR, The War to End War. It may not get much play with all the jingoistic hoopla.

There are always protests no matter the conflict. What is war without protest? I'll leave that up to you. I'm just the reporter. You could try me for something, like having sense.

I hope we are all Safan Sound after the din and smoke of last evening.

I watched Sgt. York with Coop last night. I loved the soundrack, which included "Dixie" and a lot of hymns, led by the kindly pastor, Walter "Jim" Brennan.

Craig Safan's works include Nightmare on Elm ST.

Oh, Henry, where did they film the opening theme?

At Mel's Old West Bar in Planada, twenty-five cent beers.
