As a kid, I always thought the sign to Agua Fria road meant "fried water".

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

Sunshine came softly through my window today.

As a kid, I always thought the sign to Agua Fria road meant "fried water".
And as an adult, it sounds good to me.

Some folks have thought so highly of it, they made it into a national monument.

Isn't all this a bit premature? Aqua Friday doesn't arrive until the dog figures out how to cross the river.

Fried A, on the menu under Plan B.

Plan B involves building bridges going back into The Day: The Day Bridges.

http://beniciaherald.me/2011/06/10/building-bridges/

“I spent a long time on it — and the other two — and now it’s time to do something else, like getting my Leonard Nimoy impression down pat. It would be a logical follow-up to bridge-building.”--Frellson Powell

Frellson Powell is NOT, NOT, NOT related to Mike Powell or his daughter, Emily, who seem to be cornering the used books market on the West Coast.

Which brings us to a real Jullabaloo, featuring the YOUNG Stevie Miller, not the aging gangster, who played on Flaming Pie with Sir Paul.

That guy, the young Stevie Miller, learned his lessons a long, long time ago, as did Sir Paul.

This sequence of road shots is of Bear Creek, which comes out of Bear Valley, I think, and flows down to Merced. The road is Indian Gulch Road and it parallels Slate Gulch.

And then I came to "Gordo's Place."

Geo. C. Gordo may well be deceased and a live-in caretaker/renter in this spread now. It isn't too neglected yet, but there is evidence no one cares: the chairs, for example. And the mailbox.

This place is on Indian Gulch Road (5470, in fact) and is not far from Cathey's Valley, where I intersected Hwy 140 again, a quarter mile from where I turned of on Old Highway earlier that morning.

And THEN I got to the Ag Museum and old Charlie...

And yesterday, Thursday, I drove out on Hwy 59 just north of town and found the place I'd photographed for the tractor thread. I went to the door and Willie told me to take all the photos I wanted.

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase wordburner.

Ah to be home again, back at the interesection of Indian Gulch and State Gulch Roads. I burned a lot wood there one year. I do not remember which.

Visit the Pyrography/Pyrophotography page, at your own risk.

There is a book I have read, the name of which I have forgotten, which features Modoc fly-eating people being taught English from a copy of Robert Burns' poetry, so that the boys grew up speaking like the Scots gift shop owner.

"Och, if it's not Modoc, it's fly-shite."

The book treated with a cure for rabies, among other weird subjects.

All this char-smell in the air kinda makes me thirsty.

And it's Friday night.

And I quit drinking.

Ghosts.

I'll live.

So will this poor bloke.

WHEELS on Fires. Where the rubber meets the rock.

BIG TIRES on Wheels. Where the rubber meets the dirt.

My memory serves sherbet on hot afternoons.

This last wheel may explode.

The stack of tires may burn.

The whole world fits inside

Of an ice cream churn.

Raspberry, please.

Or watermelon, if ya got it.

Great wheels photos mouse. I was wondering, however, who balances and trues all those wheels? Could it N&M or JB30 de Fresno?

Feeling a bit more inquisitive today (more on this later perhaps), but if the wheels are on fire, where is the smoke or is this all done via smoke and mirrors.

How do you supercool a mirror? Obviously, by being super cool (SuperTopo will not suffice).
